The parking brake cable broke when putting our 2004 1500 GMC Sierra into park. The vehicle can no longer be parked at an angle or it will roll. A part has been ordered but the vehicle has not been repaired yet. GMC was contacted but we were told that a recall for a similar situation only effects vehicles made in 1999-2002.

Sierra 1500 4WD 8-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles
Vehicle had less than 20,000 miles when right rear brake disc wore completely out. Had to replace again at 40,000 miles. This only affects the right rear brake. Truck has automatic transmission and parking brake has never been used, and is completely worn out. I know that there is a recall on manual trans mission, but seems there is also a problem on the automatic.
