Three years old and a/c out? Wtf? I've got 2002 Toyota with 185,000 and factory a/c works fine. I've never had that go out on any vehicle I've owned and this early. This truck has never been off road or damaged in any way. Sad, guess I'm going back to Toyota.

Faulty weld on ac condenser. Same as many others. Seems to me it is a factory defect. Don't know why there isn't a recall.

Been a GMC Family for 30 years.........Why is there no recall on the CONDENSER that is obviously a manufacturing defect. Many complaints online for the same exact pin hole leak on the upper right hand corner. It's HOT as h*** out here......be American GMC and take care of your loyal customers.

I have been a GMC Customer since 1976 and have purchased a total of six new trucks over the years. My son is a GMC Customer as well. I am a retired Crane Operator and recently Retired on my Local 3 Pension and worked my ass of for 37 years often working 12 hour days without a day off for months at a time. SO when I laid down over 50K I expected it to be something I could feel good about driving & never expected it to be a death trap that would be best used as a boat anchor for the cargo ships carrying imported vehicles. This Model Year is unsafe and should not have been made available until it had been properly tested and GMC should be more focused on the safety of the Customer & the other innocent drivers and pedestrians that fall victim to the defective safety equipment. At just over 36k miles 36500 my A/C suddenly started blowing hot air. I had just had it serviced by the dealership and not sure what caused the problem. In my research online there have been numerous complaints of other incidents at around the same mileage. There is an issue with the design of this model which causes the A/C compressor to run automatically when started even in the dead of winter. This causes it to fail from excessive wear on the unit and the repair costs are est. $1800-$3000. This is something that GMC should be covering. In the time I have owned the truck there has been a major safety equipment system not working properly. I called GMC and began the formal complaint process and was pretty much blown off and haven't heard anything back from them. With the amount of money I paid for this truck I should be safe and comfortable and have something of value. I feel like I have been taken for my money and want what I paid for. At this time I have made sure that my family, friends and colleagues from local 3 as well as my neighbors and my social media contacts don't make the mistake of buying a GMC & it may not seem like a big deal but word of mouth is the number one advertisement in business & without the customer there is no business, If GMC replaced my truck with a new one, the trade in value is about $34900 and it would leave a difference of approx. $27000. I fully intend to pursue the matter & have filed with the BBB Auto Line for resolution. It will more than likely be in my favor because I am a California resident and the Lemon Laws here are in the favor of the consumer but it will cost GMC in legal expenses and resources to participate in the process which can take up to 45days. Word of mouth has already cost several people I know to purchase from other Manufacturers and I am diligent in telling everyone I know about all the defects & headaches this has caused me. It has wasted my time and money for them to treat me as a crash test dummy on my dime. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF PURCHASING FROM GMC they DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT & HAVE NO REGARD FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMERS.

AC stopped working on my gmc sierra within 2 1/2 years of buying new. $51,000 and two years later you tell me I need to put another $1000 into it b/c of a crap ac system. Tried calling GM since this is a well know problem got nothing from them or the dealer I got it from. Has given me a bad taste after bailing GM out of the hole. This truck has also had 7 recalls. Just plain out sorry GM. Wife also has a GMC will be trading both in on Ford's.....

LIVE CHAT Connected to Agent Robert Tuma:10:19:09 AM GMC - Service on a vehicle I own Connection established. Welcome to GMC Connecting.....A live chat agent is now entering the chat.

Scott:10:20:23 AM Thank you for contacting GMC Customer Assistance, Robert my name is Scott. Your Safety is very important to us at GMC, so please remember to not use any hand held device whenever you're driving. How can I assist you today? Robert Tuma:10:23:51 AM I have a 2014 GMC Sierra truck. I have 42,000 miles and am no longer under warranty. Last week my AC stopped working, I called the dealership where I have always had all maintenance done and asked when I could bring it in... I was told that I would have to wait until Nov. 7th... I live in Texas; even in October AC is a must... So I decided to try and figure it out myself with Google... I got online and found out that since 2014 there has been an 8 dollar bracket that could have prevented this, yet was never installed on my truck even after have only dealing with the dealer. Robert Tuma:10:24:48 AM I couldn't wait, so I bought the parts myself and had an local mechanic test and verify the fix... Robert Tuma:10:25:58 AM $231.11 cost for repair, $64.09 cost for GM Original Equipment Air Conditioning Hose Assembly, $8.66 GM Bracket Part#23264893 Robert Tuma:10:26:47 AM The $8.66 bracket could have prevented this issue from the very beginning... #PIT5331 Scott:10:27:05 AM I apologize that your AC stopped working,Robert. Robert Tuma:10:29:29 AM I believe that I should be reimbursed for my cost; it seems that fixing known issues should be a benefit of using the dealer for maintenance. Scott:10:30:39 AM To clarify did you have the repair done at a GM Certified Dealership, a Certified technician or a independent mechanic? Robert Tuma:10:32:54 AM I can call and ask if they're certified, the GM Dealership had a waiting period that was to long for 90+ degree weather... I took the truck to a place called Lorentz Motors in Lewisville, TX. They fixed the issue in just a few hours. Robert Tuma:10:35:22 AM My dealer in Carrollton, Classic Buick GMC of Carrollton has had ample opportunity to add the bracket, as all other maintenance has always been performed there. Scott:10:36:12 AM Lorentz Motors did all the repairs? Robert Tuma:10:36:41 AM http://www.lorentzautoinc.com/ Robert Tuma:10:36:50 AM Yes, they did all repairs Robert Tuma:10:39:45 AM They're ASE Scott:10:41:52 AM Since the repairs where done at a third party shop and not done at a GM Certified Dealership, there will be not reimbursement from GM. Robert Tuma:10:45:22 AM Okay, I'm sharing this conversation in every forum I can... The fact that there has been ample opportunity for GM to fix an issue they knew about, but ignored, is something people should know about. This will also weigh heavily on future vehicle purchases.

I have seen and read many complaints about 2014 GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado Air Conditioning stop working even at early as few thousand miles. This is a widespread problem for this vehicle and GM needs to get its act together and fix this once and for all. We bailed GM and do not deserve this. Thanks.

PAYED 48K FOR A BRAND NEW TRUCK AND EVER SINCE I'VE HAD IT IT'S BEEN ONE PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER, AND NOW IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY AND I DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING TO BE DIFFERENT. NOW IT'S THE A/C WHICH ISN'T TOO BIG OF A DEAL BUT THERE'S A LONG LIST OF PROBLEMS BEFORE THAT I'VE HAD TO GET FIXED. ONE OF THE BIG ONES WAS THE CAR ELECTRICAL CUTTING ON AND OFF REAL FAST AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP. HAD THIS HAPPEN IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION ONCE AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP TWICE TO FINALLY GET IT FIXED. I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GMC!

This truck is not even 2 years old and already has the A/C lower hose assembly defective. Really! Dealership wants 500 to fix. GM should fix it free of charge. And who drives only 12000 mile a year for the 3 year 36000 mile warranty. It must be just a though of your covered, and a sales perk. GM you took the bail out cause you needed help. The public should stand up to you for producing crap and charging a premium. Bail us out.

Sierra 1500 4.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,000 miles

When you come home at night or turn off the fan/blower completely and your system goes to "sleep" as they call it. When you start your vehicle up in cold weather and turn the fan on the A/C comes on and initiates the compressor running in extremely cold climates. Therefore your compressor is being slowly destroyed so as you will be replacing it and other components when the finally decide to give out.

General Motors will tell you the vehicle is performing as designed. So I must assume that it has been designed to be an issue later down the road after warranty so you can spend more money to repair/replace the unit. Talk about taking it to the consumer!
