When I washed the truck the very first time I noticed some rust on the underside if the bed. I have never had it in snow or salted roads and it is garage kept. I'm not sure if there's some type of metal treatment I could put on it or not to keep it from rusting further.

I purchased my 2014 Sierra 1500 at the end of August. It is a dark charcoal gray metallic color. While washing it today I noticed it has many, and when I say many I mean a lot of small rust color spots on it. To me it looks like it had dust or dirt in the paint that may have popped. You can still see more spots in the paint, that almost look like "fish eyes". Driver side door jam has a spot that bubbled almost the size of a dime so when that splits and peels it is going to be right down to the metal there.

I live in Western NY so given our past winter I did not notice this until today when I was washing and drying it. I have contacted GM via website chat and they say they do not see any documented problem and suggest I take it to the dealer which I intend to make an appointment tomorrow.

Once I noticed it I went to see a friend who bought a similar truck approx. the same time and when I started to explain to him and show him, he raised an eyebrow smiled and said his was doing the same thing. Coincident I think not! His truck is metallic black. So, so far I have heard of 3 trucks doing this all 3 are different colors. The only thing in common is that they are 2014 and GMC changed their paint int 2014!.

Sierra 1500 V6

I picked my 2014 Sierra up in October 2013 and by December I had noticed little orange rust spots that I could not remove all over it. In January the dealership had told me it was "rail dust" and the solution was to buff it out and re-seal the truck (I had paid for the overpriced Platinum Protection Package which included a more durable sealer as well as rust module to be put onto my truck). I got my truck back and it looked great.

Again in March I had noticed the truck was covered in the spots again. I took it back and they were now telling me it was "brake dust". Since I work from home and I live in the country so I'm not in bumper to bumper stop and go traffic, I was wondering how this much "brake dust" was adhering to my vehicle. The salesman, as well as sales manager's response to this problem was, "That is what you get when you drive a white vehicle". I asked them what a permanent solution to this problem was and they informed me I would have to scrub my BRAND NEW PLATINUM PROTECTION TREATED truck with a sponge and, "put some elbow grease into it" once a week to keep these spots from reappearing, or use a clay bar and then wax.

I am APPALLED. A permanent solution to this problem is to scrub my truck down once a week and use a wax??? I paid for this Platinum Protection Package because right in the pamphlet that I still have its states that by having that clear coat on it, it will eliminate the need to wax your vehicle. So why did I pay for that package if it is of no use to me?

I would like to know if others who drive white vehicles have been told the same thing that I have. And if you have or had this problem what is a permanent solution. Because as of right now I am so frustrated and the excitement and happiness of buying my first brand new vehicle and the truck I have always wanted has been completely RUINED by this dealership and their poor customer service!
