This incident occurred 4-5 times over the last week driving between 25-40 mph. While driving, a warning or notification pops up on the dashboard screen stating stabilitrack off or steering assist off, which stiffens the steering wheel and I can't turn the truck at all. At one point, the notifications popped up and then my A/C went off and radio went off along with my entire vehicle. I had to slam on my brakes, place the vehicle in park, and then restart at which point it came back on and worked until I could pull over and assess what had occurred. I attempted to call GMC customer service (800-996-9463) and advise them of the problem and they acknowledged a recall (#17276 - loss of steering assist), but it didn't apply to my VIN#. it only applied to 2014 models of both Chevrolet Silverado ld and GMC Sierra ld vehicles, whereas my vehicle is a 2014 GMC Sierra ltd. They advised that a GMC dealer could "reprogram the eps module software", but the cost would come out of my pocket and they wouldn't acknowledge any fault or recall issue. My concern is obviously the fact I have kids and Transport them to and from school and sporting events. I couldn't even imagine this happening with children in the vehicle and causing an accident or worse injuries to passengers or the driver. This is a major safety issue, and I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed or acknowledged by GMC.

My truck meets the exact description outlined in GM recall #17276 resulting from NHTSA acknowledegement nef-150sm and 17V-414. Instead of re-constructing the description myself, I will just provide the language included in the recall notice because it is exactly the symptoms my truck experiences. I couldn't decribe it better if I tried. From GM recall notification N172085440 "condition: General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2014 model year Chevrolet Silverado ld and GMC Sierra ld vehicles. These vehicles may experience a temporary loss of electric power steering (eps) assist followed by a sudden return of eps assist, particularly during low-speed turning maneuvers. The loss and sudden return of eps assist typically happens within a 1 second period and is caused by an electrical/software issue. If eps assist is lost and suddenly returned, the driver could lose temporary control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the eps module software."

Owned truck for one year, bought used at dealership. Within 6 months, the service stablilitrack message popped up while on highway and power steering diminished. Cruise control would turn off when using the blinkers to change lanes. Put a new battery in and things worked well until yesterday when on the highway and the service stabilitrack message came back again when I used my turn signal to change lanes while using the cruise control. The cruise control also turned itself off. Went to park and the truck shut down for one second and seemed to reboot. It drove fine after that but scared the [xxx] out of me. Luckily no one was around. The headlights have also dimmed when pushing the brake pedal. I see there was a recall but I don't know if this truck had it fixed at that time or not. The website tells me there is only one open recall but for the brake system and this seems to be an electrical problem not brakes. I am contacting the dealership but I doubt they will have an answer and will want to charge me for something that appears, according to this site and others, to be a major issue for this vehicle model. During normal driving in town and on highway, stabillitrak deactivates, power steering assist deactivates and the steering becomes very difficult, airbags deactivate, turn signals become inoperable, radio shuts off, air conditioning shuts off. This happens while at speed on the highway and at slow speeds. It is especially dangerous when making slow turns as the power steering gives out and the truck instantly becomes nearly uncontrollable (uncontrollable for my wife) in the middle of the turn. I have taken the truck to the dealership and they said nothing is wrong and the best they could do was perform a service bulletin. Issue was not corrected. I found that there was a new bulletin that had a fix for the G218 ground. I cut back the sound deadening from the ground, yet that did not fix the issue either. The truck has done this dozens of times and is incredibly unsafe to drive. How can losing steering, airbags, stability control, turn signals, etc. Not be a safety concern?

I've always liked your GMC trucks but mostly been a Ford owner so this December I bought a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 with 98,000 miles... really love the truck but then start by having problems.. first my passenger window wouldn't roll down all the way..got that fixed..then my rear drivers door lock don't work..and the big one my ac condenser has a leak ($1500 fix)which supposedly is a common problem with this vehicle..which I'm just so dissatisfied..I would really appreciated to have these problems fix for free!!! for I am regretting going GMC.

Driving vehicle at a low speed into a parking lot, when suddenly and without warning, it completely shut off. No power whatsoever, unable to put on hazard lights. Disconnected battery neutral and hot for about 10-15 min. Reconnected and it started back up. There was a dashboard message to roll driving window up and down. This has happened in the past, but only when starting, never while in drive and in forward motion! in the past I had it diagnosed for the no crank no start and for $400 I updated the BCM. Typically, with no crank no start, I would disconnect battery neutral for 10 minutes, reconnect and start up slowly, ie: Turn ignition to on, wait 1 min then crank it to start. I have accepted the occasional no crank no start, but the idea that this happened in drive is unacceptable and incredibly dangerous!

All happened same day. Was 8 hours from home and pulling into parking spot and the brakes went to the floor 3 times. Has not occurred since. But when that happened the air started blowing warm and the service driver assist came on briefly. Still air is blowing warm and the service driver assist comes on. Have never had a check engine light come on. I am having it checked out this week.

I was driving on the interstate and a message stating "service stabilitrack" message appears simultaneously with the check engine light and service traction control, the car loses the ability to accelerate and maintain speed. I kept driving because there was no safe place to stop, and after a few miles the door locks unlocked then locked, the info screen flashed and then the engine revved and appeared to drive normally. Several miles later it happened again, over and over. When I reached my nieghborhood the car completely powered off.
