While driving eastbound on I-530 with cruise control on 75, GMC Sierra 1500 began to slow down. Engine trouble emblem lit up and a message to place in neutral and restart appeared. I place the transmission in neutral, but the engine would not restart. I was able to safely steer vehicle to the shoulder. I received Service ESC and low battery messages. Vehicle would not restart. I had vehicle towed to the Smart GMC dealership in White Hall, Arkansas. The next morning when the GMC dealership mechanic attempted to start the vehicle, there was a small explosion under the hood. When he opened the hood, there was a hole blown through the air filter cover. He asked me what engine was in the vehicle and when I said 6.2, he informed me that there was a recall on the 6.2 engines; however, the recall was on the 2021 to 2025 6.2L engines and I had a 2020 6.2L V8. I am still waiting for the dealership to inform me of the damages and the repair costs.
