When I purchased my Honda civic it was a year old and had only one key. I purchased another at the dealership at a cost over $200. I put it away only to use in case of emergencies. When the key to the keyless entry began to work intermittenly, I grabbed the extra key only to discover that it didn't work. When I went to the dealership, the man in the parts department tested the battery and said that both batteries were charged, but that the problem was with the inner mechanism! His advice: The key to the keyless entry is a piece of junk. Don't bother getting it fixed. It will cost about $150.
