The problem started with the car vibrating heavily in reverse. Then it got worse and also vibrated heavily when I turned on the car in park and also when it was cold the problem was much worse.

Civic EX 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,550 miles

Top right side engine mount had went bad. Symptoms were very strange. Car would only act up when first started after sitting several hours AND when you tried backing up FIRST thing. Any time I had to back up first to leave, the whole car would shake badly and not want to back up.after car was warmed up it never did it.I thought the transmission was going out at first until I got on the internet and began looking at Honda Blogs seeing that other people have had the same problem and soon discovered the motor mount was indeed my problem also.Bought the part on the internet and put it on myself, around $90. Dealer wanted $500 to fix it,what a rip-off

In the cracked block complaint section I explained my many issues with my civic: broken trunk latch, broken visors, broken passenger seat, broken L rear wheel bearing, cracked block, snapped pulley bolt, burned up engine (short block replacement #2), and a faulty transmission electrical switch. well now after 88000 miles my motor mount has cracked, my car sounds like a diesel engine when it is in park, reverse or neutral. I'm calling Honda in the morning to see what their best idea for fixing this would be...I think i'm going to end up fixing it myself, my car has been in the shop way too many times for only being 4 years old.
