I am the owner of a 2007 Honda Civic hybrid living in los angeles, California so I'm sure you are already aware of what this is regarding. Starting in the winter of 2009, I noticed that my mileage was beginning to drop and that the acceleration of my vehicle was diminishing significantly. Before this problem started, I was averaging around 45 miles per gallon but this has since diminished to around 34. I got the car checked out repeatedly and they put some sort of update on my battery and told me nothing was wrong but then there was an article about this problem in the los angeles times. Honda then offered another software update to "fix" the problem but I have heard nothing but negative things about it. A friend of mine who has the exact same make and model as me got this new update and nothing at all changed and he is still getting a check emissions system warning on his dashboard. I don't know who else I should be contacting about this issue but I hope to find out whatever I can to help get whatever could be done to get some sort of a recall on this car in motion. It is insulting what Honda is putting us through and is making me seriously consider abandoning the Honda mark forever.

Upon reading report # 10235631 on Honda Civic 2007, "a sound like water rushing from the rear underside of car upon braking and accelerating": my 2007 Honda Civic does this also. It is obvious to me that it is the partial tank of gasoline sloshing back and forth inside the gas tank. Most, if not all, cars' gas tanks have sheet metal baffles inside the gas tank to limit the sloshing of fuel upon motion of car. Either the baffles are not adequate or non-existent. Dealer just looks at me when I mentioned this. I know cars inside and out, as I have done almost all of the mechanical repairs on my cars for 55 years, including the innards of the gas tank. "it's a no-brainer" !
