The fading started on the roof. There was a recall on it but I never had it fixed because that was my only mode of transportation. I think it may be too late and the car is peeling and fading all over and needs a complete paint job not just a touch up.

paint is cloudy and cracking paint is cloudy and cracking

After Honda repainted my Honda Civic 2 separate times because they would not just paint the whole car at once they are now refusing to repaint the latest oxidation which I have been requesting for THREE years! They say it’s because the extended warranty has expired but this oxidation didn’t start until after that date. And now MORE oxidation is starting all over again above the passenger door where they already repainted...so obviously the paint they used was the same old defective paint. My car looks HORRIBLE and it’s very embarrassing when my family visits & asks “what the hell happened?” My neighbors are also asking the same thing. THIS IS SO UNFAIR!!!

There was a recall about a year after purchasing. The recall for the paint for the roof of the car only. We started seeing cloudy white spots spreading on the trunk of the car a few years ago. Now we see it in big spots on the trunk, spots on the hood, and peeling below one of the doors.

Paint has been clouding up and peeling in certain body sections for more than 3 years. I get all my service done at the Honda dealership and they never mentioned to me that they would have repaired this at no cost due to a service bulletin. They claimed it was "just getting old".

Honda had extended the paint warranty due to poor paint performance on several of their models (including mine), but I never received anything in the mail, and I found out about this after the warranty was expired. When I mentioned this to my dealership, they said basically, "too bad for you - we can't do anything now since the warranty is expired." Refer to Campaign # 14-034, entitled: Paint Chalking, Cracking, Clouding Warranty Extension.

I think American Honda is full of bull crap I will never ever buy another Honda matter of fact you couldn't even give me one. I noticed the paint on my car was turning a chalky white color and shortly after There was a warranty extension on the paint. I took my car to Jenkins and Wynne Honda where they repainted all the spots this was in November 2014, this car is a 2008 blue Civic the paint should not be peeling. after just a few months of having the spots all repainted it was back to peeling and turning white. I have contacted American Honda several times they have now offered to give me a $500.00 credit toward a $2500.00 repair bull crap. They should repaint and clear coat the whole car because it looks like junk going down the road. If this is the look they want to put out to the world that Honda's are junk or basically throw away cars well no problem they win. You can not tell me that this is fair, there was a warranty extension on the paint and now it keeps fading and you say I should repaint it or you'll give me mere crumbs to fix it myself. where is the customer service I have owned a 1992 Honda Accord, 1993 Honda Accord, 1995 Honda Delso, 1990Honda Civic, and now this 2008 Civic so I have always owned Hondas as I thought they were awesome cars but this is my last Honda. The manufacturer does not stand behind their product. American Honda should be ashamed because I am shame every time I go down the road in this raggedy ass car. American Honda I hope you lose all your customers and that no one ever buys a Honda or any Honda product again, because I WILL NOT. If anybody is starting a class action please let me know I will gladly join in and fight this horrible disservice.

Not all upper surfaces that were defective were painted when it was brought in under the extended warranty. The upper surfaces under the windows on the doors were not painted but are now cloudy and the defect is visibly manifesting itself. The extended warranty is no longer available and Honda and the dealership are offering to cover only 50% of the cost to paint the surfaces that should have, in my opinion, been painted when the rest of the upper surfaces were. I am now being asked to pay 50% (over $600) out of my pocket for paint that is defective from the beginning and slowly clouding up only to become visible shortly after warranty has expired.

Bought an 2008 Honda Civic LX and could see the oxidation over roof, hood and trunk of car but had no idea of the cost to repair. Over $1800.00 and then found out this was a common problem with 2008-2010 Honda's. Told some owners collected to have the car painted and I'd like to be one of them.

Civic LX 1.8L

I am the second owner of a 2008 Honda Civic LX Coupe with the paint cracking, trunk chalking, etc. problem that is considered a non-recall problem. I had heard about this problem from an individual selling a 2007 Honda Civic as well as noticing several newer Honda Civics with oxidized or faded paint presentations.

I had called Honda about this and was told this was covered under an extended warranty. I was told to go to a local Honda dealership to get a diagnostic of the problem. The estimated damage was $1805.05.

Now, Honda stated that they extended the time frame to fix this paint problem for 7 years from the original date of purchase when the vehicle rolled off the lot. I just recently purchased the vehicle less than one week ago and due to the date of original purchase, Honda will not consider the extended warranty case. The customer representative Chanti I spoke with at Honda was rude and sounded very scripted in her approach to resolving the issue.

Honda stated that they review complaints after the warranty extension via case by case. Almost $2,000 worth of damage and unless you have owned 10 Honda vehicles in your lifetime, you are not considered a loyal customer. Thanks Honda for standing behind your vehicles and customer base.

Had this issue since 2012.. I see paint clouding on the roof. Called America Honda, they found that my warranty expired last year of November. I have never received any letters from Honda of their extended warranty on paintings. I just went to the authorized Honda dealership, they took the pictures of my car. Is there anybody who is having the same problem like myself?

I own a 2008 Honda Civic. I was made aware of the paint recall on 06-13 models of Honda. I researched into the subject more and found that my car was one of the colors that was recalled. I contacted my local dealer and they stated it was VIN specific and my car was not included. I was not very happy considering the paint on my car is cloudy and cracking on the hood, trunk and roof. Not to mention I take very good care of my car.

I called the corporate office of Honda and they also told me there was nothing that could be done. I find this to be absolutely ridiculous and I feel something needs to be done about it. I love my Honda but the paint is horrible and I will never repurchase a Honda if this does not get fixed. I know I am not the first to complain of this and I will not stop complaining until my issue is fixed.
