A/C failed after only 8300 miles. A/C clutch + coil had to be replaced by the dealer, which cost over $1k. Searching on the web reveals that to be a very common problem on 8th gen civic, and Consumer Reports now rates the A/C reliability on those cars as "POOR".
Here's hoping that the parts they're replacing it with are not going to develop the same problem.
