As the Asst Service Mgr, Dustin Myron at Winnipeg Honda, explained it, snow had built up under the UNDER-ENGINE COVER and caused it to buckle and eventually to break. He said that although it wasn't covered under warranty, he would authorize the part to be replaced THIS ONE TIME. I argued that the part was either defective or insufficient to the demands of a Winnipeg winter and should be replaced for free every time it occurred. He said he couldn't do that. I know that, given the amount of snowfall we get in Winnipeg, this is going to be an annual problem. I never had a problem with my 2005 Honda Civic. Apparently, it also had an UNDER-ENGINE COVER but that the one on the 2012 model is larger and made of thinner material. It is definitely a design flaw which I should not have to pay to repair each winter.
