sunroof shattered sunroof shattered sunroof shattered

Was driving roughly 65mph in an open field, no trees nearby, wasn’t going under anything. The cars on I-5 were far ahead or behind us, no cars next to us. My friend and I heard what sounded like a POP! from above. My sunroof cover was closed, so hesitantly as I was driving I opened it just a crack and glass fell down, and I saw my sunroof was shattered. We pulled over and we were extremely confused. There was a GAPING HOLE in my sunroof, but no rocks or debris in sight. At first we thought maybe a bird picked up a rock and dropped it on us, but ruled that out after reading things on google. There was an airplane flying far away but we drove back and forth on the rode and saw NOTHING, no car parts working the vicinity. When we initially heard the pop, there wasn’t any extra bouncing. If a rock had hit my car then the rock would have also tumbled down the back of my car and done more damage. If a bird had fallen and hit my car there would be feathers and blood spatter.

I called insurance and basically I have to pay $500 of it before they’ll pay anything to get it fixed.

I called Honda and seriously all they said was “we’ll document this. But we’re not going to pay for it.”

Ok, so Honda, you are telling me, that this glass could have been poorly manufactured and that even if it was your fault you will not pay for it??? I understand maybe the weather or temperature had something to deal with making it shatter. BUT IF THE GLASS YOU PUT ON MY CAR IS THAT WEAK, we have a problem. That is dangerous. That could have gotten into my eye which could have caused me to get into a car accident and DIE.

I own a 2015 Honda Civic. It has roughly 70,000 miles on it. I’ve already contacted this law firm:

https://www.sauderschelkopf.com/investigations/honda-and-acura-sunroof-shattering-defect-class-action-investigation/

Does anyone else have recommendations on getting Honda to pay for this?? I made an Instagram post and tagged them in it, and I also messaged them on Facebook. Like I said, I already called Honda corporate and legit they were like sorry sis you’re on your own we don’t care about our customers we just like money.

sunroof shattered

I was driving only 15 mph and I hear a very loud pop, so loud both my boyfriend and I both duck thinking we were being shot at. We got out of the car and look around and noticed nothing hit the car but my sunroof was shattered. The dealer refused to take this a "defect" in the car as it is was only 2 months old with less than 4000 miles on it and not to mention the second car that I had to get from Honda as my first one the engine blew at 91 miles.

Update from Nov 18, 2015: Honda did end up replacing the shattered glass as it was determined as a "defect". If I were to pay for it out of pocket, it would had been $800 just for the glass!

The mananger was aware of my surroundings when the glass busted and in the parking lot there are no trees, there was no hail and no damage to the rest of my car.
