Three "temporary" fixes by the service department and not one has stuck. I even left my car with them for 3 days while they waited for the "fix" from Corporate, which obviously didn't work. I contacted American Honda to file a complaint and was told that their design engineers are working on a permanent fix. Two months in and I have not received a response, update or notification. To add insult to injury, I was pulled over last night because my rear brake light was unsafely illuminating the rear windshield. I was able to talk my way out of a fix-a-ticket since there is no fix for this safety hazard. I have read on other forums that people are resorting to DIY fixes. I am tempted to try one of these, however, this would void the manufacturer's warranty. Not to mention, this is a brand NEW car. WTF, Honda?

This is one of several problems with our 2016 Honda Civic. We thought Honda had high quality control. Not so. We've had it back to the dealer 3 times just for the brake light issue. The infotainment system cuts out for no reason, then comes back on randomly. Now the vehicle has been recalled for another issue with the braking system. The car is 5 months old. This will be our first and last Honda.

I entered into a three year lease in June of 2016 for my 2016 Honda Civic. I didn't notice it at the dealer, but later in the day I noticed that the rear brake light assembly was hanging down and blocking a significant portion of the rear window from my view. This is highly dangerous as being able to see is an important part of driving safety! I scheduled an appointment with the dealer to have this fixed (also a terrible experience). They had me come in three times before they "fixed" it by replacing the entire assembly, or so I was told. I drove straight home afterwards. The next morning as I was leaving for work, noticed that it was hanging again. Besides the safety concerns, it is also highly annoying as I can hear it flopping around. I made another appointment and this time was told that Honda was aware of the issue, it wasn't just me and that they had to "re-engineer" it. I was told by the service department manager that they would call me personally once they were ready to fix it for real. After a few months, I received a call from the dealer saying that my parts were in and to make an appointment. Lucky for me, I called and asked to speak with the service department manager to confirm. I'm not sure why they are so disorganized, but he told me that was incorrect and they still did not have a fix for this issue. 7 months later and still waiting for Honda to finish engineering the vehicle! Highly disappointed!
