Two times now, my civic has locked up and not allowed me to put it into gear. All of the warning lights come on and stay on. The only thing I was able to do to fix the problem was to disconnect the battery and reconnect it after a few minutes. This reset the computer I suppose and the problem disappeared.
I called the dealership and since I already had my parking brake recall fixed, they are unaware of any other issues with the vehicle through Honda. They wanted me to drop it off but they don't do loaner cars and I can't afford to be without my vehicle unless they know how to fix it. They proposed having a tech turn the car off and on until he/she is able to recreate the problem. That doesn't sound like an effective fix.
Honda has had my car 45 out of the 70 days I have owned this car. They said they cannot fix this issue at this time and that I simply had to "just deal with it." Will NEVER buy a Honda again after how I have been treated.
I've had my 2016 EXL a little over 4 months. Yesterday I pulled into a gas station to get a drink. I came out,tried to start my car, and all the warning lights on the dash came on, and it was stuck in park. I tried everything I could,then contacted my dealership. Saturday afternoon is not a good time to have this happen apparently. I was able to speak to a man in the service department,and he gave me a number to have it towed to the dealership,and they will check it out tomorrow. I've been researching this problem online,and I have to say it's a bit concerning. I've read stories of this happening while driving,creating accidents. Sounds like a recall coming soon. Any information would be appreciated if you have any further information on this issue.
Car started but we could not drive. Numerous icons lite up on dashboard and we could not move transmission form park position. Dealer reset computer but had no idea what went wrong. He said they also have problems with the new Pilots.
