The Civic Type R 2017-2019 has a 1st to 2nd gear grind that occurs when shifting under heavy acceleration. It appears to happen more times while turning to the left, but it has happened while moving in a forward direction as well. I've had my vehicle at the dealer twice and they are not able to replicate the grind. I installed a dashcam to capture the grinds due to the randomness. I have had the car 8 months and it's happened approximately 7-8 times.
Honda needs to address this critical issue as it will affect the longevity of the drivetrain.
