I get 40+mpg on this vehicle, so I fill up 1x/month unless I'm on a long trip. Why then, did the cable that releases the door covering the gas cap break? Its not as though I could have "overused" it (whatever that could mean). I must have pulled this release handle under the driver's seat less than 150 times since I bought this car new. No excuse for crummy cables! Of course I discovered this when I tried to fill up and really needed gas. The immediate solution, a paint scraper inserted into the edge of the door, popped it so I could fill up, but if I relied on this method I would eventually scratch the surface. The repair shop, which services only Hondas and Toyotas said that they've seen many of these.
