I have always had the auto serviced by the honda dealer near me and had the tires replaced/ sensor adj on Feb 24 2015. One tire was flat all were old and replaced. Since then I have had problems with proper air pressure/ cold weather and now I am being told I will have to pay $300 to replace one tires TPMS sensor.

When I purchased the auto I also purchased an extended care warranty for $1650. Good thing is I kept a copy of the contract because the dealers and service centers require you to show them a copy. Bad thing is I am told the sensor is not covered and I can call the insurance company if I want. When I asked what is covered by this insurance I am told that I should call the insurance company. This at the dealer that sold me the car, the insurance & pretty much everything else they could tack on. My understanding of this insurance was that I was extending the manufacturer’s warranty because it was only 3 yrs.’ 36,000 miles.

Update from Nov 3, 2017: I took my 2012 Honda insight vin jhmze2h36cs006444 into Huntington Honda NY for multiple problems I have with the car. I asked that the TPMS system be checked again because it seems to be too sensitive. A difference of 2 psi in the tires sets off the sensor. It resets when the tire pressure is equalized. This happens even when I use the special Honda air. On my 11/01/17 visit I was told that the problem is being caused because I was missing the right front tire sensor and told to return to where I purchased the tires on the car. In doing so I was shown with a meter that all 4 tires have a sensor and told that not only is it illegal for a shop to remove a sensor it also would cause the TPMS light to come on and stay on until the sensor is replaced. After calling Huntington Honda back I am now being told that the problem is that is a compatibility issue because the sensor is not a Honda part.
