Purchased Honda Care warranty when purchased vehicle and thought problem was covered by it. Denied claim because of fender bender 6 months earlier. I ate the repair cost and moved on. Ridgeline ran warm a week later and brought it back in for a check. Honda informed me that because the engine overheated once the head gasket is warped, probably heads as well and I may need new engine. Hondacare warranty (so far completely worthless) and American Honda (drive train warranty should still cover) both say not their problem because had a minor accident 6 months earlier. Dealership (Classic in Cleveland area) had it in for service twice during this 6 month period and they claim not their issue either (I have purchased over 30 vehicles from this dealer in last 15 years.) Amazed at the process and all 3 entities for looking for the out.
DOes anyone else think it is unacceptable that an engine is manufactured that can get destroyed from a single overheating? Isn't there supposed to be sensors to protect against such catastrophic failure? Very disappointed.
