Both 2006 Santa Fes I own have this problem. No recalls, and no future Hyundai purchases by me.

Santa Fe 2.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 51,000 miles

I own 2 2006 Santa Fes. Both vehicles have the air bag light on, due to seat belt ground issue. On has 52,000 miles and the other 101,000. Electrical gremlins seem to be the mark of the brand.

Santa Fe LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 305,000 miles

I have 305,000+ miles on my 2006 Santa Fe. It's not my primary vehicle but it is still driven a lot. Until now. It won't pass inspection in VA because the air bag light is on. The dealer quoted me over $1,600 to fix it. It's not listed as a recall, but I understand this was a huge issue with this model year. I am thinking it may be easier and cheaper to find a replacement seat. Has anyone had any experience with this issue? At this point spending $1,600 on this problem and another $1,000+ on repairs to make the check engine light go out, I feel like it may be better to let it go and cut my losses. Anyone know of any easy or easier fixes than this?

I Think it a shamed that Hyundai won't fix the problem without me paying for it.
