The crank position sensor was coded as the errors from the diagnostic tool. The vehicle kind of choke and it lacks power. Eventually the vehicle rpm drops to zero from time to time and very scary in the highways or T-intersection because it will hardly move after the stop sign. I have lot's of videos in here dropping rpm in 100km/hr highway...

This is the same intermittent starting problem that others have complained about for years. Car will not start about every 8 tries. Lights come on, radio, everything but no starter engages. No Solenoid clicking. Car will sit for 1 minute, or 2 minutes, 5 min, 10 min and start or it's overnight, then starts, It has stranded my wife in garage, at store, school, work, out of town, etc.

Car was towed to dealership in SLC 3 times. The first time it was the rear end that came apart, punctured the differential cover and leaked all over (causing burned gear oil stink that still stinks 7 months later). Car stranded us out of town 3 times. Had to get rides home from family members late at night and tow car next morning. Dealership (Ken Garff Hyundai) had difficult time getting car to repeat problem, thought we were crazy. Car would not start coming off tow truck last November and dealer said we needed new battery. I replaced battery, turns out that it was actually 1st time the non-starting problem appeared.

Fast forward to now (May). Car has been at Dlr 7 times for same problem, Dealer has had car up to two weeks at a time. Dealer has replaced Shift position sensor, shifter, ignition, starter solenoid relay, PCM, ignition. Dealer also has questioned us with implied doubt that we are really having starting problems.They tell us they've started it many times each time we bring it in, drive it around and it won't repeat. Yet my wife has problems almost daily. It's ridiculous. At least after the first two trips to Dealer I was "only" out $700.00.

I got Hyundai involved with my complaints that dealership can't fix their car, consumer advocate at dealership would not return calls, Store GM would not return call, I worked with 4 different service mgrs. and they could not fix car. the most recent time it would not start was after they had it 10 days and gave it clean bill of health after replacing ignition and solenoid relay. My wife drove to function 4 miles from dealership, upon returning to parking lot after it would not start. Took it back the next week and told them it would not start as usual.

Talked to Hyundai again and had Hyundai help ticket # and completely useless person telling me to either take it to another Hyundai dealer or call better business bureau? really? I asked them to buy car back or help me trade it in. They offered me $10,500 on car that booked for $16,500 and wholesale of $14,500. Thanks a lot. Asked me if I wanted to trade it in for new Hyundai? are you kidding me? I recently left it for another 10 days on 7th repair trip, they told me it would not repeat issue and I should pick it up.

I went in this past Friday to pick it up. They doubted it was actually having problems which made my wife upset. Service Mgr went to bring it up and low and behold it would not start! Now the next guess is the starter. DEALER said they tested while it would not start and starter getting voltage but would not spin. So I left it at dealer again. Stay tuned for result.

P.S. I asked to possible trade for a different car at their other lot. They offered the $10,500 trade and retail book sales price on the other car. NO DISCOUNT FROM RETAIL. To be clear, the service guys are trying and are sick of my car. The actual dealership does not seem to care about losing customers or problems with Hyundai's ruining their reputation. So this the 8th try to fix car. I've driven to dealership to drop off/pickup 14 times. I live45 miles from dealership. Note to everybody. Don't buy a Hyundai.

Same issue as many others have had. Key turns on, dash lights up, but no starter/solenoid activity, just dead. Strands us all over down. 3 trips to dealer but it will not repeat enough at dealership to accurately diagnose. Dealership (Ken Garff Salt Lake City) can't fix, can't suggest what to do. Just tells us to keep driving and bring it it until they figure it out. they've had for 10 straight days. they say it happened one time. My wife drives it and it happens all over down. No warranty, no advice, no help from Hyundai. Rear end went out couple months ago, fixed under warranty, AC won't hold charge. I'm selling this LEMON ASAP!!!

Electrical system goes dead. This has been an intermittent problem, 3 or 4 times in three years. Most recently a few days ago. I had been driving daily with no problem. Had parked for lunch and found the car dead, no interior lights , no starter activation, key function for locking or unlocking, no clock, nothing. Tried a separate set of keys, nothing showed any sign of life. Had it jumped off and engine started strongly in only a second and everything was O.K. The keys now had all functions, quickly turned the engine off and it restarted with no hesitation. The battery seems fine with out recharging it. This has happened a year ago and once or twice before that. The dealer has no clue and reports no similar complaints. My gut feels like it must be something in the cars computer or a switch. It is definitely not a dead battery or a bad key battery but I fear one day will be far from help and become stranded.

Monday evening 06/06/17 after work, I stopped to get gas on the way home form work, when I tried to turn my car back on it would start, all the lights and symbols flashed across the screen and gear shift, and made a horrible electric static sound. I tried several times and the same thing kept happening then, a message flashed that said the key wasn't in the car. I thought maybe the battery in my key fob had died, so I had my son bring his and the same thing continued to happen. We tried having the car jump started but that didn't work, we checked the fuse on the battery it was fine. This is absolutely horrible, I had to pay to have my vehicle towed home and the windows were stuck rolled down and it's been raining here so yea I am definitely upset about this!! I called the dealership and they said they were unfamiliar with this issue, but I was welcome to bring it in for a diagnostic evaluation that would only cost me another 120.00 dollars on top of having to have it towed a second time... This is Crap!!

Two weeks ago we were driving and all of a sudden the engine shut off, no warning lights were on at all at the time this happened. We had Hyundai Road side assistance tow the vehicle, (waited 2 hours for them) to the closest Hyundai dealer. The next day the dealer called and said the engine was shot, and they had to take it apart to send pictures to the corporate office. 5 days later they called and said Hyundai denied the warranty for "Lack of Maintenance".

The car only as 46,000 miles, and we have had oil changes. The dealer said they found sludge in the engine. Hyundai never asked for any receipts for oil changes, and just denied the claim. I then called the 800 customer service number, to be told that there was nothing they could do, all complaints were handled through the Better Business Bureau. I asked to speak with whomever denied the claim and they refused. So now I have a complaint into the BBB, but Hyundai has not responded. I don't understand how they advertise the best warranty and then deny all claims.

I have researched the internet and found many people has had the same thing happen to them. How is this legal? Our vehicle is leased, so they know we have to fix it before the end of the lease. This seems like a scam, since we have to fix it. We also found at least 5 other Hyundai owners who reported the exact same symptoms as ours on the same make, all of which were denied by Hyundai. I will never buy another Hyundai, they are criminals running a huge scam. Don't believe the salesman, when they tell you they have the best warranty. They don't honor it. Dealer told me there is nothing they can do to help, they said, that they have seen sludge in the engine in other Hyundai's and ours was not that out of the ordinary. However they claim their hands are tied, and all warranty decisions are made by corporate.

This happened twice. Once on Sept. 29 and again on Dec. 27. Car just goes dead and all electrical is dead. Had car towed from NY City to NJ once and was going to have it towed from upstate NY to NJ on the 27th of Dec. In NY City, three tow trucks came and tried to jump start it and it would not start. Finally, had it towed to the dealer in NJ and they found nothing wrong. On the 27th of Dec, My son had the car in NY state. He went to a movie, came out and car was dead. He and several others tried to jump start it to no avail. Called tow truck to bring the car to NJ and he said he would try to jump it and it started. Took the car to a mechanic on Mon and they tested the battery and the electrical and all seemed fine. I am worried that if the car does this while I am driving on the highway at night I will lose all lights, steering and brakes and could be seriously injured.
