I've seen other reports of this same problem on 2015. It's been doing this since i got the car but now it's all the time. The car jerks at around 20mph almost all the time. It seems worse after a long drive on the high way. I'll get off the exit and will literally about give me whiplash upon slowing down at the exit. My car also hesitates after a stop as well. Its in the shop today so i'll update later as to what is found!!! HOpefully it can be fixed as i "love" my car but these issues are getting very annoying as i'm very careful pulling up to stops and making sure that i have sufficient distance between me and the car in front of me in case something happens when it jerks!!

Sonata Sport 2.0T 2.0L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,300 miles

I have started to experience strange behavior coming from my transmission lately.

I have for a while now been experiencing intermittent periods of slippage coming from my transmission. I will notice a strange feeling while trying to accelerate, where my car will be bogged down during acceleration and will feel as though it is in the wrong gear and/or being restricted, while the engine rpm's increase higher and higher accompanied with abnormally slower acceleration.

I have also noticed an intermittent hard shift just around 21-22 mph where I will feel a "bang" coming from the transmission.

I have also noticed an intermittent erratic shift just around 31-32 mph where I will experience what feels like the transmission tripping over itself.

Update from Feb 5, 2016: This problem went away on it's own for an extended period of time. As a matter of fact this problem became dormant for so long that I began to forget about it. Now at around 7,100 miles it is back with a vengeance. What I continue to experience while driving is an intermittent very restrictive feeling where the engine speed will increase significantly accompanied by an abnormal very slow acceleration with the feeling of being stuck in an incorrect gear. This problem seems to occur in spurts.

Update from Mar 31, 2016: I am now just passed 7,500 miles on my car and the transmission is really starting to act up again. At around 21-22 MPH I will experience an intermittent yet increasingly frequent hard shift (like a bang) or a hearty slip of the transmission. It has really been catching my attention while driving lately.

Sonata 2.0T 2.0turbo

Had an issue where I was going up a steep hill from a stop and I was attempting to accelerate and change lanes. I pressed the accelerator down to cause it to downshift. It appeared to downshift because the engine revved high but, it didn't accelerate and the torque didn't increase. It acted as if the transmission was slipping. I tried it several more times in ECO, Standard, and Sport modes. It reacted the same every time...slipping transmission.

I drove it straight to the shop. They were near closing, so, they took the vehicle, but didn't drive it right then. They attempted to replicate the issue the next day and could not replicate it. I have not been able to replicate the issue again either. Frustrating...
