Was driving cars engine started shaking was stalling losing power in the middel of the road engine light came on we barely male the car home it was stalling out happend only less than 5 miles from home put code reader on vehicle had 5 codes one was Power train and other spark plug ect going out dealer ship they had it towed the tow truck driver couldn't get the 2 front tires to move took him 2 hrs finally he told me he had to remove my drive shaft to tow it the dealer ship cleared the codes told me nothing is wrong with the vehicle and I have to come get it and drive it home 1 hr 30 min from there I am not willing to do that it's unsafe also they sold it to me with broken seat belts and a water leak that flood in entire front of the car so now my car is sitting there and I have no help on this.they refuse to fix anything except the seat belts and won't tow it back to me.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that occasionally while driving 35 -€" 65 MPH, the vehicle would shake and hesitate. The vehicle also lost power steering and braking functionality and stalled with an audible tone. There were no warning lights illuminated. On another occasion the vehicle lost motive power and was struck by the vehicle in the rear. There was no physical damage to the vehicle and there was no injury sustained. The police were not notified and both vehicles were able to drive away from the scene. On another occasion the vehicle stalled and was towed to the residence; then towed to the local dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed however, the contact was unaware of the results or if the vehicle was repaired. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle jerked, lunged forward, and seized. Also, the transmission warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed by an independent towing company to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch and gear shifter needed to be replaced. The ignition switch was replaced, but the gear shifter was not. The failure recurred. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 13V175000 (power train, electrical system) as the possible cause of the failure. Motor world Toyota (150 motorworld drive, wilkes-barre, pa 18702, 570-846-4098) was contacted about the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,242.

When it rains my control panel goes haywire and I've lost function of a brake light. The truck is stuck in 4th gear and sounds like the frame is going to rip out every time it jumps. Losing power controls ie windows and things of that nature. I have 5 children, youngest being 8months. I'm a retired army disabled cavalry scout veteran. I don't care about my personal info. I can't get [xxx] done cause some potato head sold me a lemon. I'm tired of getting treated like [xxx] after the [xxx] I've endured for americans that thrive off getting over on people. Our 2007 Jeep Commander has had a recurring issue for over a year while in operation whether in motion or stationary, vehicle will shut off randomly. When you attempt to restart the vehicle, it starts right back up again. The random vehicle shutdowns take place in all driving conditions and regardless of uphill or downhill driving. Brought the Jeep Commander to the Jeep dealership and they replaced the ignition switch as part of a recall. This did not resolve the problem at all and the dealership was unable to figure out causes for random stalling even when the Commander failed during testing with technicians. I replaced virtually every sensor I could imagine including, throttle position sensor and idle air control sensor, egr, map sensor, air intake sensor and the PCM. No luck, we have the same random stalling and the procedure is, restart the vehicle in neutral for recovery while in motion. The restart does not fail, but the random stalling continues sometimes five or six times on a 100 mile trip. This is dangerous and can get someone or their family killed.

Like countless other owners of this vehicle form years 2006-2007, the "transmission over temperature" light has been going on and off for years. I've spend over $1500 on repair for all things surrounding the transmission, only for the light to continue to come on. Some people have even noted that they were stranded for hours due to this - it's obviously not just one person's experience with the car, and a quick glance online will show the depths of issues people are having with the transmission and the light on this vehicle.

The U-joints are worn and there is no replacement joints. It is a dealer item and need to get a new drive shaft for the front and rear on a 4X4 Jeep Commander.you notice the vibration on the steering wheel in different speeds due to the bad U-joints.

While in motion on an interstate, going about 70 mph the vehicle began to decelerate. The electrical warning panel flickered. When the accelerator pedal was depressed the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle would only go 30 mph with accelerator pedal depressed completely. Needing to get off of interstate, the vehicle continued to only go 30 mph on a city street. Occasionally, the vehicle would shake, jerk, and the electrical warning panel would flicker. Transmission over temp warning light then came on. Took vehicle to a transmission repair shop. Unable to put vehicle in reverse, vehicle will not respond. Waiting to be inspected to determine the problem.

I have a 2007 Jeep same engine and trans, it is doing same think as the 2006 recall is expressing. All I get from dealer is they can find nothing wrong. I can't get them to help me with anything. If you search the web you will see this is a big issue on the 2007 Jeep also. I was very close to getting into a crash today. This is the 4th time it has happened. Recall number: 08V203000recall date: 05/06/2008 component: Power train:automatic transmission:control module (tcm, PCM) problem summary: Chrysler is recalling 24,461 my 2006 Jeep Commander vehicles equipped with 4.7L V8 engines. The powertrain control module (PCM) was programmed with software that may allow the engine to stall under certain operating conditions. Consequence: This could cause a crash without warning. What owners should do: Dealers will reprogram the PCM software in all 4.7L engine equipped my 2006 Jeep Commanders built prior to January 11, 2006. The recall began on May 19, 2008. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
