Compass Trailhawk 2.4L 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 23,888 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

The UConnect 4C Navigation in 2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk with only 23,888 miles is delaminating and stopped connecting to satellite. The gps has me in the wrong location all the time, which renders the navigation feature as unusable. The service dept at the dealership diagnosed the issue as an internal failure of the radio and the fix is to replace the UConnect system.

My Mopar Extended Warranty specifically lists that factory installed UConnect Systems are covered under my plan in the Expanded Electrical Covered Services section. However, it was pointed out to me by the warranty servicer that also listed in the Terms and Conditions towards the end of the contract are 36 services/items that will not be covered. Anything involving or affecting the use or operation of, access to, or the processing of any computer, hardware, software, data, information technology and communications system, electrical device... is not covered. The Mopar Warranty servicer denied my claim because they deemed the failure to be a computing issue. Out of pocket cost to replace will be close to $2,000.

Unfortunately, this is not the only issue I'm having with my 2018 Compass. It's quite concerning to have a significant electrical component fail on my very low mileage car so soon. I know I'm not alone with this issue as Google search shows the UConnect 4C Navigation unit is known to delaminate and stop connecting to satellite and that the only fix is a replacement. Which is fine, I guess, if your Mopar warranty actually covers the replacement cost.

Compass Latitude 2.4L

  • Manual transmission
  • 33,800 miles

Bought the car with 26,020 miles on it in 2019. It's a '2018' but was originally sold on 10/24/2017 so the 3 year warranty is expired but I only have 34,000 miles on it now. Probably drove it 3 months before COVID kept us home. Now the screen is frozen but the upload / download loop continues as long as the car is on. My display says 'sound system unavailable' but it also affects other functions such as navigation, the radio, the backup camera and my phone. When my phone is in the car it connects to it so that I lose the sound on my phone. If I have to receive a call or make one I have to stop the car and get out. Woo hoo.

Jeep wants me to pay $500.00 for a 'radio' that is actually an operating system for all of the aforementioned functions I no longer have and the dysfunctions it has created. It's also created an unsafe environment in my car because it interferes with the phone. Never had a radio go before a car, ha ha.

uconnect receiver not working

Called dealer as soon as issue occurred. Then set up an appointment for the following week. I emailed dealership photos of what happened in case they needed to order a new receiver. They attempted to reload software and this did not resolve the issue. Now I have to schedule another appointment with the dealer once the receiver arrives.
