Dual climate control blend doors have broken, a defect in design that affects all 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited models. There is no hot air available to the passenger side of the cabin, and the passenger climate adjustment is inoperative.

We have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has had an ongoing failure in the air conditioning system. Over 10 times the vehicle has been into 2 different dealership repair facilities to correct the problem and there has been numerous parts replaced (blending doors, valves etc) and the failure is still there. The A/C system does not produce air at the temp that is selected, and most of the time will blow hot on one side and cold on the other or the other way around. The last time it was in the dealership the manager said they could find nothing wrong, and when my wife drove the vehicle with the manager, there was burning hot air coming out of the vent, the manager said that was normal. Nothing they have done has fixed the problems and we are ready to sue them to recoup our money.

The HVAC system of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee (dual climate zone) fails after a short period of time prompting expensive repairs. The HVAC system will blow ambient outside air on one half of the car. If it's hot outside, hot air, not ac, will blow on the passenger side. Cold air in the winter.

2004 Jeep Cherokee blend doors. I have to use a towel while driving to wipe the interior windshield since my defroster has gone bad. Why does Chrysler not cover this as I consider that to be a major safety issue.

While driving with defrosters on, the heat suddenly turns to cold and does not defrost the windshield. Was told by dealer that blend doors were defective and the dashboard had to be removed. This started happening about 6 months after I bought the car. This is a definite safety hazard since you can't de-ice the windshield while driving. I feel the manufacturer should make the needed repairs at no cost to the customer since this is very hazardous.

The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the heater doors in her vehicle broke which left her with no heat and no defroster. There were no warning lights prior or after the failure occurred. She has not taken the vehicle to the dealer or spoken with the manufacturer. The vehicle was repaired on 12/17/2009 by a local repair shop. The current mileage was approximately 87,000. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The blend doors in my Chrysler 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee have deteriorated and fallen into the plenum box where they are housed. I have learned from the dealership this is a known defect by the Chrysler engineers. My windows frost up do to not having any heat creating a dangerous situation due to the fact I cannot see out my windows. The dealership and repair shops want over a thousand dollars to fix the problem.

3rd failure of climate control system inside vehicle controlling A/C, heat, vents, etc. Have paid a total of $3119 to have it repaired with new oem Chrysler replacement parts by certified mechanics. The same failure continues to occur where the climate control "blend doors" break in their plastic housing causing the doors to move independent of the computer control signals. In the winter, cold air will blow regardless of setting, and in the summer hot air blows - also regardless of setting. This latest failure occurred outside of the warranty. It was already fixed once within warranty period before 2 subsequent failures. Dealer reps informed me that 80+% of vehicles with dual climate control option have this problem. I have owned a 2000 and 2005 Grand Cherokee and have also experienced the same issue with both vehicles.

Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 2004- heat not working properly due to blend door misfunctioning. Spent $1200 at Jeep/Chrysler dealership to fix and less than one winter later it is broken again. Even replaced all parts T-working and non working parts. This is a major problem with Jeep and this should be made a recall. Thousands of others are in our same boat and there are forum set up just on this issue. This is too much money to spend every winter on the same malfunction! drove less than 10,000 miles in 12 months on my vehicle. This should not have recurred.

Wj blend door breakage/failure with 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with electronic dual climate controls. Hot or cold air blows uncontrollably on drivers side of dual air conditioning. I have been quoted $1500 to fix this problem, but this has been an ongoing problem with this vehicle since I have had it since 2005. With hot air blowing continually on drivers feet, this is a potential safety hazard.

Heat and air conditioning died in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland, it only has 60,000 miles on it and I did some searching online and this is a common problem for the 99-04 Grand Cherokee. I live in a cold weather region and cannot defrost my windshield making it quite dangerous. It will cost $1,200 to fix it and I cannot afford to pay that. Chrysler is saying it is my responsibility to fix. But the problem lies with the blender actuator doors being too cheap when built.
