I was driving down the highway and my drivers window gradually started sliding down. At the time I was running the air condition.and the window started slowly coming down. By the time I got home the widow was completely down. My husband tried to pull it back up and as he did this the window broke right into his hands and all over the seat of the car. And I was told by another Jeep owner that she had a recall on her Jeep. I was just wondering if there was a recall for it?

Lift within window broke spontaneously while driving approximately 20 mph. Window would not stay up and cables needed to be replaced. Approximately 5-6 months later, a second window had the same issue this time while parked-another needed to be replaced. On 10/20/2013 the same issue happened to a third window while in reverse pulling out of driving going no more than 2 mph-another needs to be replaced. I was informed it is a common problem but that there is no recall so they can't do anything about it at this time.

Window risers. 5 broken risers since the car was new. Garaged with less than 75 K miles. According to the internet this is an item that should have been recalled and there are thousands of complaints about these failures. Chrysler will not fix or respond.

Failure of heating system components - blend doors. Regardless of temperature selected and fan output, design flaw in blend doors of heating system can result in no heat including no way to defrost / defog the front windshield, impeding driver's ability to see in cold weather. Faulty plastic parts break. Apparently this is a widespread problem with many Jeep models / years but no recall ever issued. Cost in excess of $1,500 to repair estimated.

Blend doors broken on passenger side so no heat comes from dash. No use of defroster on passenger side.. this cant be good for the windshield with hot and cold air blowing on it. Repair costs are ridiculous for a factory problem that many people seem to have.

There is creaking from the dash seconds after shutting the engine off. Cold air blows from one side of the dash even when you have the heat turned on high. Dealer says this is the blend door problem. I already had this unit replaced at 70K miles and now it is failing again. Dealer states it is due to the design of using plastic parts that break.

During winter months, heat shuts off and turns cold. This happened during a snowstorm and I could not defrost the windshield. I consider this a serious safety issue. I had to stop engine, wait 5 minutes and start engine again. This has happened every time the car is driven. In the summer months, the reverse happens. Suddenly, the air conditioner suddenly throws out hot air.

While driving down the freeway the HVAC vents suddenly began to blow hot air in ac mode & switch back & forth. Later after reading the haynes manual I did a diagnostic on the heater system & got a code 54 showing a blend door problem. Researching this on the internet Jeep forums discovered that many Grand Cherokee limited have a blend door failures due to the design (plastic pins etc) on the temp doors in the system. My problem w/ this is what happens when this fails in the winter & your defroster won't blow hot air only cold. Seems like a safety related problem to me. From the internet forums it sounds like a lot of the limited series 1999-2004 have this problem.

Air/ defroster won't blow out any air at all or will blow out hot air on one side of the Jeep and cold air out the other side even though the settings are the same. This will happen on and off until it breaks totally. I have had mine fixed 3 times 12/29/06, 03/28/07, 06/08/09. You cannot defog/ defrost the windshield properly and keep it clear when you are driving. Each time the dealer replaced the faulty part housing a 240213290, actuator 24029001, housing a 2428025 and again housing a 24028025. This is a known issue for the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and you can find a lot of talk on the internet about the cheap plastic parts that are used. You can find after market aluminum part but that's not what the dealer uses. This should not happen on a Jeep that only has 36,000 mile on it..it's like its used alot. At $800 a pop its starting to add up.

I have a digital dual climate zone in my vehicle. Recently the heat started to work only on one side (drivers) and not the passengers. After researching the issue, it looks like there is systemic problem with the mechanical recirculation and ventilation doors for the heating/cooling system as I found many complaints online with many who have had the same issue. In addition, I called a dealership with the problem codes that I got from running a diagnostic test via the heating/cooling control panel and the dealership also told me this is a very common issue and that it would cost a minimum of $800 to fix. The price to repair was consistent with what others were saying during my research. This is a safety issue as if I have not heat I can not defrost my windows in the winter.

The event occurred as I was backing out of my driveway. My rear view mirror was out of view and I went to adjust it. I remembered the window motor on the drivers side had a short so I went to adjust it manually. As I put slight pressure on the mirror the whole thing folded back. I figured it was okay seeing as they were designed to fold back, but when I put them back in place, they did not stay. Now, as I drive down the road, the mirrors fold themselves in without warning and it is making me very worried that I cannot see out of my mirror.
