I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was given to my by my uncle Tommy. The Jeep have 10900 miles on it but the transmission was blown. I got a junk yard transmission and a repair shop installed it. About a day later when It was suppose to be done they called and explained that the transmission I got was bad and was not shifting correctly. They removed it and I got a warranty for a new on from the junk yard. The new one from junk yard had 71,000 miles on it and looked mint! Dropped it at the shop and they installed it but only to inform me later that week that it was shifting erratic and the PCM was the culprit. I sent the PCM in to a repair website and they told me that my PCM was non repairable. They sent me a preprogrammed one $700 later. Once it arrived the Jeep would not rev up and has a stagnate idle at 1600rpms. Odd, right?

CEL was on had a throttle body code. Got an OEM throttle body and preformed relearn. Still no fix! Sent the computer back and the repair company which offered a life time warranty said this computer was non repairable. Sent me a new one and all is good - she drove for about 6 months. Then bam one day she just cranks but doesn’t start. No codes present. Injector fuse was blown. Sent the computer back to the repair place they then send me another one!!! Once it comes in she drives fine for 3 months then bam. 02 sensor heater circuit code and random running like s***.

Replacing all 02 sensor didn’t fix anything. Sent the PCM back and what do you know, its bad. Now I just got back the new computer and randomly it will turn the service 4x4 and service electronic brake message, along with the ABS lamp and traction Lamp. When it does this it does drive over 10mph. And it’s very dangerous. This car has been the worst and i don’t no what to do next. Jeep needs to figure out what the hell is so cheap about these falling computers or I need to find a decent tech to show me why my car keeps blowing them. 🐍=Chrysler

Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7L Hemi V8

Shortly after buying this vehicle used with 100,000 miles on it from a reputable jeep dealer, started showing electrical ghostly issues. For starters, it would go into limp mode while driving and for no reason. Anytime and anywhere. The symbol of the car swerving light on with some other light too sometimes. It would fix itself if I threw it into neutral and restart then start back up. Sometime would come back shortly or might not but it did this almost every single day. I looked up on forums and people were saying either computer or throttle body since that was the code it would throw was the throttle body. Change throttle body twice with one refurbished and then with a new oem replacement from the dealer at $400. That didn't change anything. After this I installed a ground wire to the throttle body cause it bolted up to a plastic intake so it would get interference from other electrical equipment and not response as it should. People did this to help with the lack of response anyway. That didn't help. So I started buying computer for this pile of crap. $700! I went the cheap route and bought one that was used off a similar jeep. Nothing. Bought another from a jeep computer refurbishing company , nothing. So I bought one from the dealer and nothing. Since the one at the dealer was refurbished and didn't work, they found one in the United States of America that wasn't used and put it in. Helped but didn't fix issue. They updated, programmed it, fiddle with it for 3 days. Finally something did it but no one knows what it was. Out the door I go thinking and hoping it was gone. 2 weeks go by and BAM! Middle of freeway and I lose it all again. Had to run into median and slam the brakes. Literally thought to burn the pile up and celebrate but can't do that now can we. This time took it back to dealer to have them just hook it up and tell me what was going on now and it was the same thing but this time the steering wheel was reading wrong. When you turn steering wheel it tell computer what degree for all it computer crap for rollover potential and other junk. Another issue that I will address in another column. Anyway messed with it and dealt with it for 3 months with multiple trips to dealer and still nothing. Happens less now for whatever reason but I'm the only one that drives it with no passengers. And at 13-15 mpg, it is useless.

I WENT TO CHRYSLER,LEFT THE VEHICLE THERE FOR ALMOST 4 WEEKS. NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT IT NEEDED A COMPUTER ECU THEY CALL IT. IT WOULD BE AROUND $1200 BUT THEY DON T KNOW IF IN FACT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. SO I LEFT WITH THE VEHICLE RUNNING GOOD NO ISSUES BECAUSE IT DOES' T DO IT ALL OF THE TIME. I PURCHASED A NEW COMPUTER FOR $300 AND PUT IT MYSELF, NOT A BIG DEAL. I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I REALLY NEED THIS VEHICLE AND I CANNOT SPEND MONEY LIKE THAT AND GOING NOWHERE. I AM JUST TIRED OF IT. I DON T KNOW WHAT TO DO. EVRY TIME I TAKE TO THE DEALER, THEY DON T DO ANYTHING, JUST CHARGES, NOTHING ELSE.

Grand Cherokee Loredo 3.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

Started sometime last month (Oct 2014) with all the dash lights blinking on and off and the tachometer and speedometer moving all the way down and back up to normal. During this time, the car drove smoothly with no fluctuation in speed. I had my power steering and, I guess, brakes. Just when I decide to pull over, the problem "fixes" itself. After a few more moments, it continues again and this goes on several times.

Today was by far the worse with this happening several times. I went to three garages, but all had waiting lists for service. Finally got an appointment with my local Jeep dealer for next week, five days from now. I am afraid to drive the car. I know this car has a key switch recall, but I was told this might take weeks or months. I am hoping this is NOT the problem.

Update from Nov 13, 2014: Much ado about nothing? I took my Jeep Grand Cherokee to our local dealer today to get it inspected for the flashing dash light I experienced five days ago (see above). They said they did a thorough inspection and determined the problem was due to the P41 Safety Recall regarding the ignition switch. They still have not received the ignition switch but will let me know when it is received. I asked if I could still drive the vehicle and they said no problem; just don’t put anything else on the key chain except the ignition key. I explained that I would be driving at night and asked if my headlights would be affected just like the speedometer and tachometer were. They said the lights would remain on. There was no charge.

Grand Cherokee Leather 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission

All gauges and lights turn on and off along with AC or Heater. head Lights flash on and off as well when in auto. Brakes apply when turning and error messages show up saying 4x4 service and electric break system check. I have to pull over and wait and wait and wait. This problem is dangerous. I am scared to drive my Jeep. I've seen other Jeeps driving around with the same problem. This needs to be fixed... I'm calling for a class action lawsuit. This happens every day.. Multiple times a day. If you are having this same problem take some time and post..

All of the lights on the instrument panel go haywire. the odometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge and speedometer go to zero, the blower of the airconditioning unit stop blowing or slow down to a minimum. It is beginning to happen on a continuos basis. I'm sure Chrysler is aware of the situation but hasn,'t come to an affordable resolution. I would like to see a recall.

My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Started having electrical problems with the computer. All my instrument light were coming on and off and all the gauges started bouncing up and down all while traveling down the highway. What a nightmare this was. I thought some alien had taken over my Jeep. I took it in to my local dealer and all they did was reset the computer a temporary fix. Roughly over a week now and it is starting all over again. I am out $105.00 and for only a temporary fix. Come on people, can anyone tell me what is wrong? Have a great day!!
