Started having problems with my 2006 Grand Jeep Cherokee, was approximately August of 2013. While driving on a highway, the car lost it's power and wouldn't accelerate. I was just thankful this happened late at night and no one hit me in the back. Then it happened several times more and I really started to be nervous in this car.

Then a few months ago last year, the check engine light would turn on and off. The car runs smooth but there were times it wouldn't accelerate as it used to. These past few months the engine light stayed on and at the start of the engine the car would shake a lot but stopped as I drove the car. When the check engine light was on, and I hit a little rough patch on the road, I would hear a rattle under the car. This has been happening and the dealership told me I would have to add dry gas to the tank. This obviously never helped as the dealership said it would.

The other day, the rattling noise became so loud and it never went away. Since I was near one of the repair shops I used to visit in the past, I had them look at the noise and I was told my problem is similar to the previous customer and his car had transfer case issues which was causing the rattling noise. I decided to take it to Jeep Chrysler repair shop instead to really diagnose the problem. It's very scary to be on a highway and your car loses it's power and wouldn't accelerate. I was just told today at the dealership that if the engine light was on and flashing, that I shouldn't drive the car. It's getting to be scary specially after reading about a 52 year old man get run over by a similar vehicle when his car accelerated at the car wash.

The only notification I got from Chrysler was about the ignition problem recall and even with this issue, Chrysler is taking too long to fix this $15.00 issue? What about the many complaints about the transfer case issue I've read about? When is Chrysler going to admit their faults? Are they waiting for more drivers to get hurt or lose their lives before they admit their mistakes? How can we all press this issues so Chrysler will move up and take responsibilities? Is anyone having issues with their power train/transfer case also? What have you done or Chrysler done to correct these issues on their products? How can we continue patronizing our Made in America products if they continue cheating us like this?

Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7L V8

They want $500.00 for the new motor but they can't get the motor because there are over 700 of them back ordered, but I can prepay for the part and yet they have no clue when the part will come in. If anyone knows anything about these transfer case motors, they shift your vehicle in and out of 4 wheel drive. So, I have no 4 wheel drive and live in a very snowy area hence buying a 4 wheel drive vehicle.

I think it's sh*tty of them to demand prepayment from me on a part they have no clue when it will be available and secondly if there's so many of them out there with the same problem obviously they screwed up and should start making more parts. This motor is also not available to buy through anyone else so what the hell am I supposed to do??
