SAFETY, SECURITY AND INCONVENIENCE ARE PARAMOUNT! NO RELIABILITY! ONCE DESTINATION IS REACHED, CANNOT ABANDON CAR BECAUSE KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED, OTHER TIMES, KEY CANNOT BE INSERTED. SOMETIMES HOURS WILL PASS BEFORE WE CAN REMOVE KEY - THEN, IT JUST COMES OUT. THERE IS A LOT OF CLICKING/TICKING NOISE WITHIN DASH BEFORE/AFTER/DURING KEY ENTRY. SOMETIMES THERE IS A "LIGHT SHOW" - ALL LIGHTS ON DASH GO ON/OFF. WHEN KEY DOES COME OUT, THE CAR IS ASSUMED TO BE TURNED OFF, BUT ISN'T - WINDOWS STILL GO UP/DOWN, RADIO AND AC WILL COME BACK ON, ETC.

WHEN DEALER WAS ASKED IF THERE WERE RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM (OR ANYTHING) FOR THE 2009 - WE WERE TOLD THERE WERE NONE. OUR DAUGHTER'S 2005 JEEP CHEROKEE HOWEVER, WAS RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT A 2005 UNIT WAS INSERTED IN THE 2009 MODELS? DEALER WANTS $100 TO "LOOK AT" THE VEHICLE, THEN REQUIRES THE CAR REMAIN WITH THEM FOR UP TO 3 DAYS AND AT LEAST $1000 TO REPAIR.
