About 2-3 weeks ago i began noticing a burnt smell while driving about. Sometimes it was on start up. Sometimes it was when out and about or on the way home. I couldn't quite make out the smell. then i checked engine and saw splash type staining, may have even still been damp under the bottom radiator hose. pin hole leaks are possible but my car is 5 yrs old and the hoses shouldn't fail this young.

I will check radiator cap tomorrow to see whether there is sludge, but, i was informed that these engines need to be flushed at 5 yrs or 30k. So I am at the door. I'd prefer to fix the leaking hose, but we shall see. had to add coolant, pink, and it cost $25 at the dealer. no one else sells pink.

Took next Friday off and will likely spend it at the dealer. Talk about a personal day.

I have a significant coolant leak on the driver's side of my Jeep. It has covered the skid plate and it's visible on the front tire fender as well (pics aren't the most recent). It looks like oil because it's mixed in with the dirt, but the oil level on the dipstick checks fine. The transmission coolant does not have a dipstick and is only supposed to be checked by the dealership (go figure). However, the transmission fluid on my at-home dipstick checks fine as well.

I noticed the liquid on the front part of the radiator, the hoses that go up to the radiator, and on a variety of smaller parts only on the driver's side. It's hard to find exactly where it's coming from since I know that it sprays all over while driving.

I haven't looked into this in a while since I just went through 4 months of hell with electronic issues (posted already if you're interested in the read) and I just got my jeep back yesterday (31AUG17).

While getting the electronic issues fixed, I reached under and felt the coolant. I don't remember the color of it at the top of my head, but it felt like glycol, not like oil.

Not sure if this is related, but around March-April timeframe, I would occasionally see this small puff of white "smoke" come out from under my hood. It only happened when I was going uphill and I hit the gas, but not every time. I'm thinking maybe it was the coolant that burnt?

Either way, there's a coolant leak in my Jeep and I haven't found where it's coming from.

Purchased 3 weeks ago in Jacksonville. Noticed anti-freeze smell on the day we picked it up but saw nothing dripping. Dealer told us it was engine cleaner but we were skeptical. Once we got it home the smell continued. No steam or visible signs of leaking. While the motor was cold, we popped the hood and looked at the overflow - fluid was on add line. Radiator was full, but looked a little sludgy. Jeep runs at normal temp. We have an appt. at our local Jeep dealer this week to have them look at it.

Just one more thing to deal with. Not only do I have a bunch of recalls to deal with, now the coolant is disappearing. No spots, not coming out the tailpipe, so I have no clue whats going on.
