The contact owns a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, an abnormal ticking sound was heard coming from engine without warning. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective rocker arm. The manufacturer was contacted and the contact was informed that there was no recall on the vehicle. The contact was also informed to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer to be serviced. The contact spoke with firkins Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (2700 1st St, bradenton, fl 34208) and was provided a cost to diagnose and determine the cause of the failure. The contact declined the service. The contact stated that the check engine warning light recently appeared on the instrument panel after the vehicle misfired while driving at a low rate of speed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

April '20 received recall #V62/NHTSA 19V-813 for fuel pump relay. Fuel pump relay is susceptible to silicon contamination on the relay contacts which can cause relay to fail. "a vehicle engine stall while driving can cause a vehicle crash without warning. This recall was issued 11/14/19. To date no repair is available per my calls to the fca recall assistance center, reedman toll's auto world (dealership where I purchased the Jeep). I have been driving the car a limited amount due to the recall. I had to drive the car on the pa turnpike for a doctor's appointment. I realized then how many people would die if my engine stalled, without warning, while I was traveling at 65 mph. Surrounded by tractor trailers and cars. I have called Jeep corporate telephone numbers and the switchboard refers me to the fca recall assistance or the dealer. Reedman auto world stated they do not have a fix for the recall. Is Jeep not fixing this recall because any deaths will be collateral damage? I would my vehicle fixed or a comparable loaner car. If you are not the right place to contact please let me know who I should contact. I think this is a life threatening issue.

Vehicle does not start as it should consistently. Vehicle has an inconsistent delay in moving forward after stopping at a red light and will have a jerk/jumping feeling in the transmission after the delay/stall from moving forward. This has been an ongoing issue since December 2019 when I initially took the vehicle to get looked at and the dealership states they do not have parts to fix the issue as of September 2020!

A known problem with a defective oil filter housing. This substandard design defect cracks and causes oil to leak on the engine manifold and puddle. This could cause oil sending unit to fail and loose engine oil. This is a problem with the 3.6 L six cylinder engine.

Recall NHTSA campaign number: 19V813000 remedy says that we will receive a second notice when final remedy becomes available. It notes that vehicles experiencing a fuel pump failure will receive an interim repair. I have been to 2 dealerships and called fca multiple times to talk about this recall's interim repair and have been sent around with no answer. They seem to be purposely dodging any accountability for this interim repair they have promised. My vehicle has stalled multiple times on streets and highways.

My vehicle left me stranded at a target store parking lot. My vehicle was on with the A/C running. The vent blowers stopped working and the vehicle shut off. It cranked but no start. I used my aaa membership to have the car towed. It was sent to the aaa mechanic. The fuel pump relay was no good. I know there was a recall on this relay but the dealer never had the part in stock. Which sounded bogus to me. The mechanic explained that there is a recall and I should get reimbursed. I sent in my completed the Chrysler reimbursement request form and submitted the shops receipt and the rental vehicle receipt. I was assigned case # 76491689. I paid $3004 in cash for repairs. After I submitted my receipts they denied my claim for $1309 that was related to the fuel pump relay repair. The mechanic also performed other repairs that he claims were as a result of the recall damaging the vehicle. I asked for another receipt stating specifically that I paid in cash and resubmitted it to the denied claim email. I am unemployed due to covid-19 and I spent my savings to fix my vehicle. The ramifications of this mess has affected my personal life and my mental health. For a moment I felt the mechanic lied to me and I was contemplating to physical harm the mechanic. I already had several verbal disputes with the shop because they claim that the receipt they gave me is all they can provide. Yet it was deemed as insufficient proof of my cash payment. I reached out to news station for assistance you resolve this matter.

While driving my car on the highway the battery light came on. After a few minutes all of the other lights, seatbelt, engine, etc. Started to flash. Then my air conditioning turned off, my brakes stopped working and my power steering went out. Luckily I was pulling off of an exit. After finding out that there were 5 recalls, I took the Jeep to a dealership to have them fix it. I picked it up a few days later after they said it was ready. The day after picking it up...I was again driving down the highway and the Jeep did the exact same thing!!! again luckily I knew the signs and pulled over quickly but still lost control of the vehicle because power steering and brakes went out.

The Jeep had approximated 144,442 miles and had never smoked or used any oil until the engine light came on while driving down the interstate in western so Dakota.

The vehicle started making a loud tapping sound from engine at idle and while driving. Mechanic diagnosed it with bad lifters. The needle bearings in the lifters used in this engine tend to fail. The failure causes the lifter bearing to seize up and damage the camshaft. Had lifters replaced two times in a 4 month period. Camshaft replaced one time. Research on the web show several examples of this same failure in hemi 5.7L engines. The failure can occur anywhere from 50,000 miles to over 100,000 miles. The common cause is the lifter bearings failing and damaging the camshaft. Repairs range anywhere from $3000-5000. This leads me to conclude that the failure is due to an engineering defect on the lifters by the manufacturer.

My 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4 has randomly but continuously stalled or hasn't started up successfully for the past year that I have owned it. This has caused much stress, anxiety, and inconvenience for me, my wife and young daughter. We live with the constant fear of being left stranded throughout or own city or worst yet stranded out of town during family road trips. This is completely unacceptable and undesirable as loyal Jeep vehicle owners of several different Jeep models including two Jeep patriots and one Jeep Liberty. This past Friday I was unable to start up my Jeep to go to work and was left stranded in my garage. I had to miss work that day and have the Jeep towed to a local authorized dealership where it is still parked four days later unable to start up and is undiagnosed or repaired. This is causing me and my family much financial hardship due to my wife and I having to alternate missing work or trying to borrow a spare vehicle from other family members. I hope to have a remedy as soon as possible by the manufacturer as this issue and subsequent recall has been in effect since last year 2019. I hope that this complaint does not fall on deaf ears and that a solution is developed and provided to me and my family right away.

Car stalls without warning on the highway. This has happened 8 times in the past year. Recall was issued November 2019 with a temp fix. I received the temp fix in January 2020. I had another stalling incident on the highway Feb 11 2020. The car has been at the dealership since. Jeep/Chrysler has been less than helpful.

Every morning when I start my vehicle to go to work. I need to crank it over and over again until at some point it starts. I went for service for recalls in my vehicle in September 2019. I was told the part was not available for the fuel pump relay recall, R09. Even though the appointment was set with the parts in stock. I never received a call back and now I am experiencing this inconvenience everyday. (recall related incident)

Tried to start my Jeep it wouldn't start. I used the push button. I waited a few hrs and tried again. Same issue. Tried my remote start. Started up. Next day used the push start, started up no problem, on the highway (95) the truck was hesitating when going up an incline. Next day push start won't work, the engine would turn over as usual but wouldn't start. Remote start and it started up. Son took it and put it on the diagnosis machine and said there weren't any codes. Researching a hard starting problem I've read tons of posts very similar to what I have experienced. I called the dealer to make an appointment. Asked could it possibly be the same issue that my truck was re called on already. He said might be R09 fuel relay recall, timp problem, (recall was a temporary solution to install a fuel pump harness bypass so that the fuel pump turns off) but that if it is, the dealer said they already replaced that and will not do again unless it is pd for, after they put the Jeep on their diagnosis machine at $175 per hr. So after they completed the 9th recall I pick up my Jeep with hopes that I could do more research. I also called Jeep. The lady was very nice but they will do nothing except add my complaint to their system. I found out that many people had the same problem as I do! Jeep/Chrysler have put faulty timp in these cars and do not want to put a recall out on them. Many cars with my model have had the same complaints. The faulty timp has the fuel pump running constantly which drains the battery it runs when the car is off. Now if I 'try' to start the vehicle it smells like something is burning. After researching this problem I found the issue to be a timp problem and now am aware that I am not alone. There are hundreds if not more Jeep owners that are having the same issue.
