I was coming to stop at a stop sign and heard a loud pop and the truck jerked forward. The truck was slow going into first gear and would not go into reverse. Truck has 86,000 mikes on it and happened out of the blue. It appears that there are issues with transmissions for Jeep as the manufacturer has them on back order.
On 12/23/2020 at 6:00am I was driving on long point road when the vehicle completely shutdown - all electrical, engine, lights, breaks, etc. I was driving at approx. 30mph heading towards a round-about when everything shutdown. The loss of power resulted in not being able to slow down. Luckily there weren't any cars in the round-about when I entered. However, it was a rather tight round-about and was not able to make the turn and I went over the curb and drove straight through the middle of the round-about.. the car restarted after about 3 seconds and the check engine light came on. Once the car restarted, acceleration was extremely limited. I continued to proceeded down long point road until I could pull off. About 1-2 minutes after the first power failure, another power failure/complete shut down occurred. The second power shutdown lasted about 5-7 seconds and turned back on. I immediately pulled off and shut the car off and let it sit for several minutes. When I restarted it, the check engine light was on, but went off after several hours. It's worth noting, I just received the ecodeisel software updated (I think V7). This update was performed on 12/21/20
Service four wheel drive system comes up on my dash and then the traction light comes up on my dash and won't go out. When making a left turn or right sometimes the vehicle pulls. Also when accelerating and decelerating the rear differential makes a humming noise.
Vehicle was in motion on a highway when "service shifter" warning came on. Lights on shifter go on and off randomly while parked and in motion on highways, city streets. Shifter gets stuck between gears, shifter light reading gear reads differently than dash panel gear, ex. Shifter is put in drive (D) and dashboard reads neutral (N). There are delays in shifting between gears and beeping sound comes on. When putting vehicle into park and it will not read it, creating a stall in the process, and having to move shifter in different gears before it will start to read gears again. Vehicle has thrusted forward after putting into park while a beeping noise is going off. Shifter has not wanted to go into park, or reverse and instead goes into neutral. When shifter has been put into park the engine has made an acceleration noise. Shifter has been erratic and non-consistent, creating fearful and unsafe operating issues.

The service shifter warning goes on and off when the car is in motion. There are countless reports of this problem listed online with Jeep Grand Cherokee, yet there is no recall so I am reporting the issue.
I continue to have rocker arm and suspension bearing and tick tick tick sounds after two separate repairs. All of the items should have been replaced not just one or two. It is a 12 dollar part. The labor to disassemble and reassemble car is astronomical. Have been without car two times for over 15 days. Totally unsatisfactory.
Documented issues and concerns about slipping transmission, sluggish shifting up and down. Serviced at only Jeep dealers- never notified of an issue and no acknowledgement to my concern about transmission. Car went in for (4) annual service with a documented concern about the transmission. Nothing detected. Just notified car needs a new transmission at just under 44,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle with the transmission in the drive position, the shift indicator malfunctioned with several positions on the shift indicator illuminated. After stopping and restarting the vehicle, the failure was corrected. The failure recurred on several occasions. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000. The VIN was not available.
Headrest deployed without any accident and has broken tabs not running just parked, car has 71,000 miles and just had to replace lifters and rockers already not covered by warranty that "expired"
The 8 speed automatic seized up and almost killed my family. This year vehicle is notorious for transmission problems. Jeep corporate and fields dealership aren't addressing this safety concern. The car lost all power, stalled, seized up, and we almost got rear ended. This was in mount prospect, Illinois on August 21st, 2020 around 12pm. We picked up the vehicle at fields dealership, only got 7 miles before the vehicle almost killed us. The dealership and car mfg, Jeep, refuse to take this issue seriously.
I just bought this Jeep Cherokee in April 2020 and now it's been in the shop since June 15, 2020 and I haven't had my vehicle in over two months because of a transmission issue this truck was supposed to be certified when I first bought it and I feel like I was sold a lemon.
Car won't shift properly with the recent recall repair. It gets stuck in D or N and skips reverse when trying to back up. The light showing what gear I'm in occasionally goes out too, so I have no idea what gear I'm in after changing it other than letting it move. Has been happening a while but I don't have a. exact date it started.
Engine has a ticking noise at 158000 miles. I have changed oil routinely at dealership. I have replaced tires, tuneup, replaced A/C motor and compressor and tried to sell it so can buy a new Jeep but 3 people were concerned about engine noise. Dealership says dirt gets in motor and it will cost over 3K to fix it. I am now stuck with this car until it stops working. I am not going to be a returning customer to fca.
I purchased a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with roughly 31K miles in 2016 from Chrysler Dodge dealership in Michigan. The shifter is not friendly user and I noticed several seconds of latency in acceleration from a complete stop (city) and the rpms would excel past the correct gear. Id have to take my foot off the gas pedal to help get it into gear (city & highway). The gears shifting in sport mode was smoother and took it back to a different dealership (no recall notices were sent) and they stated it was a software issue that has been corrected. Now when I'm driving in D there's still the hesitation of shifting into gear as well as latency during acceleration. I feel a jolt when I go to accelerate and when I slow down I feel the downward shifting. I do not feel safe in this vehicle - city and highway.
My car unexpectedly shifts into neutral as I'm driving on highway. The shifter slips...also when it's supposed to be in park..it sticks in reverse. Shifter slips to easily out of gear. Also the transmission bangs into gear a lot! car only has 48K on it!
Wile driving uphill transmission aggressively down shifts to 3rd gear putting car into limp mode always happens wile going up hill its dangerous no recalls for this transmission issues, happend to me multiple times car it's not safe to drive ones I pull over shut down engine and stard again call drives normal for a couple of miles then issue comes back check engine light on, and traction control light comes on, with ABS light transmission wont go up or down 3rd gear
When trying to shift from park to reverse sometimes you get a hard shift or other times it doesn't shift and shifts to neutral instead. Finally the check engine light came on and a code for the transmission came out. Seems like there are other Jeep with the same problem and have a recall for it. But my vehicle does not.
Transmission has been degrading as I drive. It started by downshifting to 3rd gear and it got stuck. Now consistently I cannot shift from 3rd to 4th gear without hard shifting and making a loud noice while in automatic, it does help changing gears while using the hand pedals and not accelerating and going slow to be able to shift to 4th gear... I've taken it to the dealer when I do oil change but they want to charge me to diagnose which is a power train and every time I take it they say there is not anything. It used to behave when cold but now even if engine is hot and driven it does the same. Sometimes even with pedals the transmission switches back to 3rd even if I am in 6th gear and does not get pass 3rd gear unless I turn the engine off and turn it back on. In addition the reverse does not work if I don't shift right away on reverse. If I leave the engine on for a few mins and don't use the reverse gear it won't let me and goes to neutral and camera goes off, so I have to turn engine off and then I can switch to reverse. Transmission is horrible. I can't switch from 3rd to 4th and I can't go reverse without having to turn car off, wife can't drive it and don't have money to pay the dealer to fix an issue that is clearly a fault at the manufacture. I've called dealership but they only are interested on charging and mentioned that they may charge me up to 5K to change my transmission... I will find an exact date, but I am giving an approximate day, it was when I was heading to court to help a family relative so I'll find out if I need to prove when exactly this started. Thank you...
