After the mandatory emissions modification that was required on the ecodisel 3.0 liter Dodge and Jeep vehicle, there has been a significant decrease in vehicle performance. The vehicle has lost performance in shifting, acceleration (response), fuel efficiency and overall power. This is not only performance related, but also a major safety issue as it makes it difficult to accelerate properly when making turns into oncoming traffic.

After driving over a curb in a busy retail store parking lot, my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee went into full acceleration. I could not slow it down with braking, as the brake was totally ineffective, although I had full pressure on the pedal. I crashed into another vehicle, which severed my lower control arm, the wheel swung out and was cut into two pieces, and the axle came out.as a result. I had reached speed exceeding 40 mph in a second or two. It was the most traumatic event I have ever been in. I have researched dozens of accounts of this exact vehicle experiencing "sua" or sudden unintended acceleration where it could not be slowed and went into uncontrolled speeds leading to crashes. Here is the link: M.carcomplaints.com/Jeep/grand_cherokee/2014/engine/vehicle_speed_control-4.shtml I am injured as a result and will require extensive follow-up medical care. I am enclosing pictures of the aftermath. Please help me obtain some assistance from this manufacturer to provide compensation for my loss and subsequent damages. Consumer stated I was contacted by the fca inspection team that the inspection was completed on November 4.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that he experienced several failures with the vehicle. While driving various speeds, the contact heard knocking and banging sounds coming from the engine without warning. The check engine warning indicator eventually illuminated after the failure persisted for some time. The contact drove the vehicle to port jervis Chrysler Jeep Dodge (131 kingston ave, port jervis, NY 12771, 845-856-6211) where the transfer case was replaced; however, the failure continued. The transmission was ultimately replaced twice by an independent mechanic. Also, as the contact was closing the rear hatch, the contact noticed smoke coming from both license plate bulbs. The contact immediately shut off the vehicle and removed the bulbs from their sockets. The contact called an unknown dealer to have the bulbs replaced and was given a quote of $250 per bulb. The light bulbs had not been replaced. Also, when the contact activated the cruise control, the cruise control continued to function even when it was attempted to be disengaged. The contact had to place the vehicle in neutral in order to disengage the cruise control. The contact also experienced several other failures with the vehicle, including other electrical, engine, and suspension failures. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and stated that there was one recall on the vehicle. No further assistance was offered. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Two months ago, our Jeep dealership performed the V08 recall as per the epa/doj fca ecodiesel settlement. Since then, I've experienced lack of throttle response (lag), causing unpredictable and unsafe conditions when making a left turn at an intersection.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While attempting to merge into traffic from a parking lot, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stated that excessive effort was needed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to dave syverson Chrysler (located at 2310 E main St, albert lea, mn 56007, (507) 373-1438) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code on three separate occasions. The contact stated that the dealer replaced several of the computers in the vehicle, which possibly included the ECM, PCM, and tcm; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 49,999.

I was driving my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee when it shut off while I was driving 40 mph luckily I was in a parking lot and could slow down to the shoulder where I was then pushed away from traffic they said it was due to a short in my tippin and my fuel pump went my truck was brought brand new and barely has 50,000 miles on it and over 2000 complaints for the same thing for faulty equipment put in the vehicles from 2005 to 2014 and Chrysler does not want to be held accountable so they have not put a recall on it and it is an open lawsuit that I saw it cost me over $3000 to get this fixed and this could really have went a different way I could've been hit and killed Chrysler needs to be held accountable but I guess they won't make a recall and less someone is killed

As approaching an intersection I began to coast and place my foot on the brake. At the time I started to brake, the vehicle surged forward for 1 second. As I came closer to a stop, the vehicle surged again at which point I had to "stand" on the brake pedal to prevent me and my family from rear-ending a vehicle and going into a busy intersection.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving out of the parking lot, the vehicle shut off and the insufficient battery charge indicator illuminated. The failure recurred and the vehicle was towed to ron carter Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of league city (281-668-5383, located at 3535 gulf fwy, dickinson, tx 77539). The dealer stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 17V435000 (electrical system), 17V572000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic), and 18V332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control). The vehicle was kept at the shop for the recall repairs. Four days later, the dealer still had not completed the repair, stating that the gear was stuck in park. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

While going through a carwash this weekend, my car accelerated at some point after the gear was put into neutral, and hit the car in front of me. When the brushes in front of me parted I could see I was going to hit the car in front of me and tried to stop with the brakes but did not stop in time. A couple years ago while slowing towards the end of a lane with my foot on the brake it had also accelerated, causing me to almost hit another vehicle before the acceleration stopped. Periodically, but not often, when I am at a stop and then proceed my car will lurch forward as if I had floored the gas pedal, but I haven't. my husband has been with me and said not to floor it. I just give him the look and say I didn't. yesterday, however, just hours after the car wash incident, he was driving the Jeep when he thought he experienced the same "over-acceleration" after proceeding from a stop. The car-wash attendant yesterday had accused me of not putting my car in neutral but I had pointed to my dash to show him it was in neutral. He didn't believe me but then looked at their video which was inconclusive. But something made him do a google search where he came across sudden unexpected acceleration in Jeep Grand Cherokee, at which point he apologized for basically accusing me of lying.

Complete electronic and communications failure of instrument panel from unknown electrical shortage resulting in loss of control over transmission shifting and most control switches like windshield wipers, turn signals, emergency flashers and brake warning like is on that I believe indicated no ABS. Experienced this problem many times driving on I-75 in Michigan and Ohio. Very dangerous situation while on the road without any prior warning. Initial warning is "service shifter soon" followed by "no bus". after multiple trips to the fca dealer, root cause not identified and more fix to date. Suspect the electronic shifter malfunctioning but no help from dealer service department. Reoccuring problem for the past 9 months. Current mileage is 79,000 miles with VIN # (xxx) 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. No accidents or aftermarket add on work ever. I fear for my safety driving this vehicle to Florida for retirement on 1-25-2019 through 1-29-2019. Again, no resolution from golling Chrysler or from fca star case #57876853. I fear this vehicle is not reliable at this point for short or long distance driving. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Takata recall I was driving a 40mph street when I was going to make a left turn. I was waiting for cars to pass to make the turn when the throttle control light came on the dashboard. I was trying to turn but the car wouldn't let me accelerate. I am thankful that there wasn't any cars coming towards me. I pulled over turned it off and back on it went away. The car had a recall in 2017 for the alternator. I had a similar incident where I was driving and the Jeep had slowed down it completely turned off but was able to pull over at a apartment complex. The Jeep dashboard lights were flashing the windshield wipers were on really fast, everything was flashing. I couldn't put the car in parking, it was smoking. I had my daughter in the back seat, I had managed to turn around get her out while my foot was on the pedal jump out of the car with her in my arms. The car kept moving until it crashed into a car infront of it. I felt like I was going to die with my daughter in the car. I feel like the throttle could be related to the alternator. I am scared to drive my car.

The alternator light came on in the vehicle while driving, then within about 10-15 minutes the radio had no sound although the screen was still lit. Other lights then came on such as the engine light, anti-lock brakes. About 5 minutes later, I had to stop at a stop sign, when taking off again, the car would barely move. It wouldn't go above about 10-15 miles per hour, then it picked up speed but I no longer had power steering. As I pull into a parking lot to get the car off of the road, the wipers turned on (even though the switch was off). When I got into the parking spot, the car could not be put into park due to the power issues. I had to hold my foot on the brake until the engine died. Within 2-3 minutes the engine died. Everything was dead, including the power locks. Then a few minutes later the dash would light saying the ignition or accessory unit was turned on but you couldn't do anything to turn it off. Everything would then turn off again. After sitting for about 30-45 min, the car would start back up but it was not driven anywhere, we had it towed. Both the alternator and battery needed to be replaced which is what caused the issues. The alternator is under a recall for my model/year/engine type but not for my VIN. The recall was due to very similar issues, loss of steering control, loss of power.

In the process of parking at my sister's home, I took my foot off the accelerator and started to brake. The car did not slow down. I continued to brake, but the car kept going forward with increasing speed. I was able to steer and not hit parked cars, but went into the lawn hitting a set of contractor's scaffolding sending them flying into their house and patio. The car finally stopped on top of their well head, destroying the well cover as well as the protective pipe for the well head. Further internal damage was done to their well, as there was no running water in the house. A tow truck had to come to lift the car off the well head to avoid any further damage. I had been using the cruise control earlier in our trip, but it was not active at the time.

With the vehicle in drive and when traffic is clear release the brake and depress accelerator pedal intermittently I get the message " service electronic throttle control" at that precise moment, there is no accelerator, vehicle may move ahead slowly from an idle but that is it. When the message goes away the throttle responds normal. The last 3 times this has happened I was coasting down hill with my foot off both pedals.I have had it into the dealer ship several times. This issue has been ongoing for over 2 years now. Because I can not show them the issue, when I take it in, they do nothing.

Multiple problems with the forward collision warning (fcw) and adaptive cruise control (acc) systems 1) system will issue false brake warnings (and apply brakes if enabled) on clear straight roads with no other cars or obstructions. 2) system will disable itself at random intervals disable itself for a period of time (10-20 minutes). Only notification is brief "fcw/acc system disabled" notification in gauge cluster - no audio warning that important safety system disabled itself. 3) when using acc, when vehicle resumes set speed after autonomous braking, vehicle will accelerate into back of next vehicle ahead - have to manually intervene and apply brakes to prevent collision. Note that this vehicle uses a Bosch lrr3 radar sensor system for the fcw and acc features. Vehicle has been into Jeep dealers for service for this issue five times, and even after opening star case with Jeep/Chrysler fca, still no fix for this serious safety issue.

Sudden unintended acceleration "sua" occurs at a complete stop with brake applied. First time 08/14 as I pulled into a forward facing curb-I had just come to a complete stop and was about to put the car in park when the engine loudly surged. I was astonished and got the car into neutral;the surging stopped. The car was new and I could not believe this happened-I was dumbfounded. The second time the "sua" happened was 01/26/15 -I came to a complete stop at traffic light behind several cars. As I came to a stop with my foot on the brake the car's engine surged violently and the car tried to move forward. My husband was a passenger in the car and witnessed my foot was on the brake. I immediately moved the gear shift to neutral and surging stopped. I relayed this incident to Jeep service rep by email who said he never heard of this. The third time of "sua" was 6/25/15; I was first car at traffic light. I came to complete stop with foot applied to brake when the engine surged, the car squealed and jumped about 3-4 feet into the intersection; I got the gear into neutral and the surging subsided. Took the car to Jeep dealer who tried to duplicate the situation over a period of 14 days without success. I also contacted Chrysler Corp. Who opened and then dropped a case. Fourth time on 12/03/16-I was 3rd car at a traffic light and, again, came to complete stop with foot on the brake when the engine surged violently and rammed the car in front of me damaging my car and his. In this instance I was unable to get the car to neutral in time. Chrysler Corp was contacted, they investigated by retrieving info from edr and concluded "we are not led to believe this is a manufacturing responsibility and...decline any assistance with this incident." Our written requests for the data results have been ignored. Jeep service will not issue us a repair order-the car is unsafe!
