At approximately 12:50pm, while driving in sport mode, going up a hill, I was accelerating normally at a reasonable pace after making a right-hand turn. The acceleration pedal around 30 mph disengaged from my foot and floored itself, and continued accelerating. Despite pushing on the break pedal repeatedly. I could not initially un-stick the accelerator pedal using my foot. The engine made some noise and a warning with a red light appeared on the instrument panel: "service electronic throttle". because the breaks were not working I engaged the gear shift to turn to the vehicle from S/sport mode back to D/drive mode. I pressed the break pedal again and again, still nothing. The Jeep reached above 72-77 mph+ on that street highway. I was well beyond concerned for my own safety but for the safety of the intersection in which I was about to approach. Finally, I wedged my shoe in between the floor and the accelerator pedal (which was difficult B/C it would not budge), the pedal finally released, but there was still no immediate reaction from the engine until 1-2 complete seconds later. I could have been seriously injured, seriously hurt others, or died.

Trying to set cruise control on 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, pushed the set + button to set cruise speed, but would not set. Also tried to just accelerate using the set + button and this would also not increase cruise speed. After numerous times of pushing set + the vehicle would speed up at a higher rate of speed than the one or two clicks. Had to eventually quit using cruise control and it is was unrealiable. Have used in past w/O incident. Had vehicle in for routine maintenance on 8/13/2014 and this was not an issue addressed in any recalls or program updates.

I was driving on the highway in rush hour traffic when the car suddenly accelerated and side swiped a school bus. The car went out of control and was unable to be stopped, crashing into a concrete media on the left side of the highway before spinning across three lanes of traffic and crashing into the concrete barrier on the right side of the highway and finally stopping. The car was totaled - the entire frame was twisted, all four tires were destroyed, the bumper was hanging off. There was severe damage to the entire car - not one corner or area of the car was not dented, dinged or scraped. None of the air bags deployed (despite the violent nature of the crash). I walked away from the accident but had a herniated disc in my back and an injury to the rotator cuff in my right arm and missed a significant amount of time from work while recovering.

Purchased a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo in June of 2013. Have experienced no problems with operation throughout first 10031 miles driven. Departed on extended vacation trip at end of May. After traveling 824 miles, air bag light came on with alarm and dashboard notification advising to have air bags serviced immediately. Shortly thereafter, the seat belt alarm activated with the bell warning, advising that the driver side belt was not engaged, when it was securely set. This condition would continue throughout each driving day. I have now traveled over 3400 miles, experiencing the same annoying, and unsafe condition, including the cruise control now turning off without warning. I have checked with several dealerships, only to be told that this problem could not be identified. There remains 3000 miles to be traveled to return to my home. I do intend on meeting this situation head on through my dealer with Jeep.

Traveling at highway speed numerous warning messages and warning chimes started to go off. Created distractions to driving and it appears that air bag and seat belts stopped functioning intermittently. Cruise control also failed. Vehicle already serviced on all prior recalls two months ago. These issues are new starting on 5/23/2014. Dealer appt is scheduled for 5/26/2014. In past, also reported issues with transmission shifting and HVAC. Not a well tested vehicle. Far too many dangerous issues with vehicle. Hope NHTSA can investigate issues.

Similar to NHTSA ids#: 10533622 and 10533524. Occurrence: 5 times to date frequency: Randomly speed: Less than or equal to 50 mph each time adaptive cruise control: Always off, never on vehicle mileage: ~ 3,200 the car randomly applies the brakes even though there are no objects in the road (front, rear or sides) and no pending accident. Out of the five times, two of those times so hard that the anti-lock brakes activated. This is very dangerous and can cause an accident. To date no accidents, because no cars have been around when this happens. I have a family and am afraid to continue to drive or let them drive this vehicle. It has been to the dealer once for this issue and will now go in a second time because the issue was not resolved. The ntsb should really look into this issue with Chrysler and either issue a recall or at a minimum issue a tsb.

First instance: At vehicle startup, electronic gauge cluster immediately posted "service immediately" warnings for ABS, air bags, 4X4 suspension, parksense, among others. Speedometer was not operational. Unsure if blind spot monitoring was operational. Check engine light remained on. Turning off ignition, opening doors, and waiting several minutes did not clear the issue. After waiting overnight, everything was operable. At first service visit, dealer reconfigured PCM per Chrysler and returned vehicle. Second instance: Approximately two weeks later, the above issue recurred. We could not make it to the dealer and had to drive the vehicle in this condition. A few days later, the issue recurred once more. This time, we were able to drive it to dealer. While service was closed, we asked someone to verify the condition and download codes. We contacted Jeep customer care and was assigned a case manager. At service visit, the dealer stated they were unaware of this ever happening, and I told them I had seen several cases on Jeep internet forums of an ABS module being replaced. After speaking with Jeep, dealer installed new ABS module. Also, we were given a rental Chrysler 300C for one day during this visit, and it failed to start the morning we had it due to an apparent electrical issue and had to be towed from our garage. Just two weeks after the Jeep had the ABS module replaced, we have yet to see recurrence. However, when I asked Chrysler case manager if all systems displayed as needing service during this issue were truly mechanically working or not, she said they "probably" were. When I questioned that response, she stated the best thing to do would be to pull over and have vehicle towed if it happened again. She would not confirm that other vehicles had a similar issue or if the ABS module fix was successful in those cases.

I purchased a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited for $46,000 from dothan Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on Saturday, August 17th, 2013. We drove off the at 8:30 P.M. that evening. On Monday, August 19th, at approximately 4:00 P.M. as I was driving down the highway after having just left my job at the Washington county sheriff' office, where I am the public information officer, my vehicle's screen flashed a warning that read: Vehicle gear shift malfunction. The screen went completely black for approximately 1 minute. When it came back on the screen read: Please service transmission followed by turn off ignition to engage park. I tried to turn off ignition, in the middle of the highway, and the warning then read: Vehicle must be in park to turn off ignition. This endless circle continued as I was able to stop the car at a gas station parking lot. I sat in the parking lot of the gas station for approximately 5-7 minutes where I documented (via cellphone camera) the repeated messages and attempted to turn my engine off and simultaneously attempted to put the vehicle in park. The gears would not display. There was no way to see if the vehicle was in park, or what gear it was in at all. After struggling with the vehicle for close to 7 minutes, I was finally able to turn the ignition off. When I restarted the vehicle, the transmission service light was on. I contacted the dealership (as noted above) immediately. I was assured by the salesman that this "happens all the time to Jeep". this was my first major concern with not only the vehicle, but also the dealership. I have a full team of certified mechanics that work for our office. I met with each of them and was told that this was not a common thing for any vehicle. My cruise control is now completely inoperable.

The better business bureau has pointed me to you all as you can see in the response below: This message is in regard to your complaint submitted on 6/17/2013 6:08:54 pm against Chrysler group, llc. Your complaint was assigned id [xxx]. "although you have not expressed satisfaction in the resolution of your complaint, based on the information provided by both you and the business, the BBB has determined that we have no documented basis to require further action or response from the business. Therefore, the BBB will close this complaint and not pursue it further. For next steps, please contact the NHTSA at www.NHTSA.gov for more information." To sum up the issue, I have the autobraking functionality turned off and the vehicle will sporadically brake on its own when approaching another car/object as part of the anti-collision warning system. Chrysler give the option of turning the braking off or on, and I have it set to "off" but there is no solution as they cannot now duplicate the problem (it's sporadic). I used to be able to replicate the problem with other technology errors I was receiving and they fixed the issue initially, but it's now sporadic. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
