OK, Jeep GC bought nearly new from dealer with 90 miles on the clock at the end of August 2014. Not a high mileage vehicle but has been bought to tow our 1500kg caravan for vacations.
In December I took the vehicle on one of it's first longer runs, just over 100 miles from home to Leicester in the UK. Close to the end of this trip a noticeable noise/whine/rumble was apparent at highway speeds (70mph). Transmission temp showing 90+ Celsius, no leaks or other problems apparent. Vehicle went into local dealer over new year, they put about 200 miles onto the vehicle in an attempt to replicate the noise but unsuccessfully. today more tranny noises, but low speed, 1 or 2 second bursts of a whine with some rumble felt through the floor of the vehicle.
I've read that there are known tranny problems with these vehicles, I'm due to be taking the caravan to Germany at Easter but I'm concerned that I'm going to loose the transmission whilst towing.
Vehicle now has about 3500 miles on it, I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced similar & what the outcome was? The dealer says they cannot do anything unless the problem is apparent when they have it, which I understand, however I know that it will take a long drive & a very hot gearbox for the problem to become apparent.
(As an aside the dealer chose to perform recalls to the vehicle that as practically disabled the DAB radio & is causing the cruise control to cut out again.......) Help Me!!!!!!
