My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Sun roof exploded on a bright sunny Oakland, California day. It put glass everywhere. I was cut. Lucky there was not an accident as I was driving 65 mph. No other vehicles around or bridges to cause the explosion that sounded like a gun. Jeep said they won't reimburse me for this safety failure because I'm out of warranty. Jeep inspected the vehicle and could see no reason for the sun roof to have exploded. Sounds like there should be a recall from what I'm reading on other websites.

sunroof exploded

While driving on the freeway at about 65 mph around 7:40 pm in Sacramento, outside temp was about 70 degrees, we heard what clearly SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT, then started hearing wind noise and glass rattling above the headliner. We pulled over about a mile past the explosion and saw that the sunroof had exploded. Assumed it was a gunshot as there was no overpass and nothing hit the roof of the vehicle. Insurance is covering this as a comprehensive claim subject to my paying a $250 deductible. Based upon what others are experiencing with the thin lightweight tempered glass on modern sunroofs, I am now convinced that this was a SPONTANEOUS EXPLOSION, and it should be 100% covered by the vehicle warranty, as it is a MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

hatch window has exploded twice

this is the second time in a year that this window has exploded on me. Both time i was in car and simply closed drivers door. I feel the car is too tight. Jeep refused to help on the first one. I'm waiting to see what they say on Monday. This has also happened 3 times to a friend who has 2013 model. This can not be a freak thing this often
