My Jeep GC has 105,000 miles on it. The engine is making a ticking sound. The sound is most audible when behind the engine on the passenger side or from underneath. I took it to Pischke Automotive in West Salem, WI over a week ago. The shop said they "heard a slight tick from under the vehicle, no code stored, nothing significant enough to go off of. Engine operates like normal, recommend no further action, drive the vehicle like normal, not enough evidence to warrant a major engine repair".

I didn't drive my Jeep because I know any ticking sound is not a good sign. I took the JGC back to Pischke today (10 days later) because the timing cover was seeping oil. I said while they were that far in the engine to check all the engine components do determine the source of the tick.

The engine basically needs to be rebuilt, new cams, lifters, and rocker arms. My JGC needs over $4,000 of work. So much for "a slight tick and not enough evidence present to warrant a major engine repair:.

Upon further research, I found information of the dreaded "Pentastar Tick" in V6 Fiat Chrysler engines from 2015-2019. There is a known issue that the bearings fail and cause serious engine failure and costly repairs. However, no recall has been issued.

How many other Jeep owners have needed similar engine repair? Why is there no class action lawsuit? How do we force Fiat Chrysler to make this right?

I had a "ticking" noise coming from the engine. Took it to the dealer who had to replace 4 camshafts and 24 rocker arms.
