The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while getting a routine oil change at the dealer the mechanic stated that there was a large hole in the subframe due to excessive rusting. The contact was informed that the subframe needed to be replaced. The contact recalled Technical Service Bulletin, NHTSA ID 10140027 (Suspension, Steering) from approximately 5 years ago and inquired if the vehicle could be repaired under the TSB. The contact was informed that the TSB was no longer valid. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the TSB was no longer valid. The approximate failure mileage was 136,560.

I kept hearing an odd click, creek noise from the driver side front end. It sounded like something was hanging or something had broken off. I took it into a shop and it was discovered that the front sub frame was rotted in several places and had broken. When the rear was inspected, it is rotted to the point where you could push your finger through if you tried, and there was a section bent. I can no longer drive this vehicle, and I am still paying on my vehicle. I owe $4,900. The repairs would range from $2,500-$3,000, if it even can be repaired, just for the front. The shop stated there was a recall to fix this issue so I'm reaching out to see if this could be covered or what measures are offered if any in this situation.

While driving at highway speed and hitting a small pothole, the vehicle's handling and tracking deteriorated instantly. After that, loud scraping noises were heard when moving the vehicle forward or backwards. After getting the vehicle off the road we found that the Rear Suspension Cross Member rusted out and cracked, causing the rear suspension to be loose. Chrysler extended the warranty on this part due to premature rust for 10 years, but this is a safety defect and it should be handled as a recall and not just a warranty extension.

Sometimes when I turn my steering wheel the air bag light turns on. It does not always stay on and only comes on occasionally, usually when I make a turn. I got the diagnostics tan and the error code B1B02 Driver Airbag squib 1 circuit open. There was recently a couple of recalls (S61 occupant restraint controller and N01 reprogram occupant control restraint module) for my 2010 Jeep Patriot. I believe this issue with the error code I-€™m receiving is related to the recall issue, especially since the light does not stay on consistently. Dealership confirmed code B1B02 and would cost $972 for part and service. Consumer stated complaint was filed on Sept. 4, 2021.

Transmission started with a whining sound, then the check engine light came on, the SUV then began to sputter, then it stopped accelerating on the interstate. I pulled off to the side to restart my vehicle and it ran fine for a few miles and began to do this again. Something with the cvt transmission. Going to cost a fortune to fix. Chrysler should be responsible. This is a dangerous glitch in their vehicles.

The vehicle will continuously stall and buck while idling for about one minute after filling up with fuel. This has occasionally happened on the road while the vehicle is in motion immediately after leaving the gas station. In these cases, the driver is put in a very dangerous situations, as the steering wheel locks-up when the car stalls. The car is never "topped-off" but filled until the first pump click. After about a minute, the problem will resolve and the vehicle will run fine until the next fueling. The exact cause is unknown, but the evap system or fuel tank rollover-valve is suspected as the culprit. This is an extremely dangerous problem that many other Jeep Patriot owners experience and needs to be dealt with.

Mechanic inspected as part of potentially buying the vehicle. I had expressed concern over how it was driving. Ball joint is bad. I researched online and saw a lot of issues with this and was hoping that a safety recall was in place for it! (I did find a warranty extension for the subframe, and it is still good -- so it might be worth buying if safety issues are fixed.)

I bought this car with these safety issues, there is sold as is condition, but after having the oil pan and gaskets replaced, we were informed that the car also has other safety issues, for instance, it needs a catiltic converters that failed inspection, and steering equipment unsafe to endure a safe driving conditions. These conditions were fond by a certified mechanic, during the initial service.

When I fill the gas tank all the way, the Jeep stalls shortly afterward. That turns off the power steering. It's very dangerous. Potentially deadly if it happens while cornering at higher speeds. Forums online are saying that it's a manufacturer flaw in the rollover valve inside the gas tank, and that the only way to fix it, is to replace the tank. That is a very expensive repair. The forums indicate that it is becoming a very common problem. I feel that Jeep should issue a recall on this dangerous factory flaw and pay for the repairs.

After filling up with gas car stumbles and dies at stops for about five minutes minutes afterwards. This procedure goes on for about ten miles all I read says it is a safety valve on top off gas tank. Only way to fix is relace the whole gas tank. This happens when vehicle is in motion or just setting idleling. RPM starts to decreace and smothers plum out. I purchased this vehicle used it has done this ever since ive owned it.

Every time I fillup my Jeep I get within 1 mile of gas station it begins to stall. This happened everytime I fill up for the past 5 years. The Jeep will just shutoff and the power steering stops working being that it stalled. This has almost caused me to crash many times and to get the problem fixed Jeep dealership said I would have to replace the entire gas tank. Doing some research lots of people are complaining about this happening to them and being very costly to fix. The item that needs to be fixed is the (fuel tank rollover valve) Jeep doesn't make a replacement part for this and that is why you have to replace the entire fuel tank. The steering wheel locked up while the vehicle was in motion at approximately 45 mph. I was driving on a back country road and slightly turned the wheel to follow the curve in the road when the wheel locked up. Fortunately, I was sharing the road with just a few other drivers, it was a slight bend in the road, and I was able to use the breaks. After I came to a complete stop, I had to utilize great force to turn the locked steering wheel. It seemed like that maybe loosened it up some but not quite all the way"?" then, I turned the vehicle off for a few minutes, restarted it, and then it seemed to be ok. After being inspected by a mechanic, I was told that they could not find anything that would have caused an issue for this to have happen. They said that further disassembling could possibly locate a problem. This is extremely concerning and hazardous! I'm not sure if others have had this issue as well but it should absolutely be looked into!
