Renegade Trailhawk 2.4L

Cooling fan started the death wobble at 46,000 miles, just out of warranty. Dealership quoted $1000 to replace cooling fan module. Talked them down to $650. Really annoyed, disappointed, and discouraged about the life of this vehicle. This is our first and will be our last Jeep.

Problem 8 of 12: mid-August 2016, now just over 60K miles and 1 year on the road, the car overheats. I take off of work again and take the car to the dealership. The cooling fan is going out and it took the fuse out too and the grand total was going to be $800+ plus the rental car I had gotten because again, this is not part of the power train or their lifetime warranty. If the engine needs to be cool to run, then the fan that cools it is part of the power train to me. Apparently that’s not the case. The dealership did offer the number to contact the factory, because the car was still rather new, but the mileage was 185 miles over the point where the dealership could extend a “goodwill” discount themselves. I contacted the factory and they assisted with the repairs. I paid a $200 co-payment and that covered the fan and fuse repair and the rental car. Pocketbook lighter and spirit a bit more crushed, I carried on.

A burning smell came from the car. Service engine light came on. Took it to repair shop. Jeep quoted a extremely high price for the repair. I agreed due to the dealership stating that they could have it fixed in three days . Knowing this was a large issue after researching online and seeing that this part fails not just in the renegade but also all cars that use it and one back order everywhere I agreed. Three days later I called and they said the part didn't come in. A week later no part . Now over a month later no part . Was told November and now there is no ETA on repair or part . These are junk. Paying for a car that is sitting at a dealerships repair shop pitiful.

My 18 year old son broke down on the way to college on 8-2-17. We had to go and pick him up and get the Jeep Renegade to the dealer. We were told the coolant fan was broken and covered under the warranty. However, they told us that these parts were no longer being manufactured and were back ordered. Jeep is doing nothing to compensate us and I have to fight for updates. It's been almost two months and we still have no vehicle. I have been in contact with corporate and they assure me it will get fixed, but they can't say when. So I am paying a payment on a car that is valueless and cant be driven. I would never purchase a Jeep again and would like to make buyers aware of Jeep and their horrible service.

On the way home to TN from visiting my grandmother in TX, my fan module went out in MS. A local MS dealer quoted me for approximately $600. In the meantime, I'm stuck in MS and having to take off of work (200-300 miles from home with an infant) ..... 2 days later the dealer calls and notifies me that the part would take 1 1/2 mo. to arrive (8/23/17). I called Jeep customer service, wherein, they told me that I would have to pay for any expense to get back home and have my car towed back to TN.

I ended up calling every parts manager from southern LA to TN trying to find this part - with no success! They ALL confirmed that this is due to the HIGH FAILURE RATE.

Needless to say, I ended up driving the car home and am still awaiting a call back from Jeep customer service... I have shed countless tears, lost a week's worth of pay, and was stuck with a baby in an overheated car in the hot southern heat and still have to wait another month for my car to be fixed. I am beyond disappointed with Jeep.

After being told that the part was on nation back-order until September, when I questioned them about a rental car for me to drive in the meantime, I was told that only under Extended Warranty would they provide a rental car for FIVE days.

So even though the part breaking was not something I caused and it's their fault that the part is on national back order and can't be gotten for 2-3 months, I am responsible for paying a car note AND on top of that providing my own rental.

I am completely disappointed with the Chrysler/Jeep warranty. I have owned a Nissan and Hyundai in the past and was treated much better for the minor issues that occurred.

I don't recommend buying or leasing a Chrysler vehicle, when there is a problem its hard to get a part for it and always a long back order. Chrysler needs to better server its customers or they are not going to be around for long.
