Renegade Latitude 2.4L

I know it says to list each complaint, but I will just start now even though I have been dealing with this issue since I purchased the vehicle new back in October 2016. I first brought it to the dealer with 4500 miles. Fast forward OVER TWO YEARS, and I'm still dealing with this issue.

The radio/GPS unit in this vehicle overheats after driving for an extended period of time. The problem typically starts to occur between 45 and 75 miles into a trip (but has happened both sooner and later) and most often occurs in cold weather when I'm using the heating options within my vehicle.

Once the unit overheats, it will shut itself off and then will commence turning itself on and off at it's will over and over for the rest of my trip. I cannot operate the unit at all when this is occurring; I have absolutely no control over it and am not able to turn the unit back on manually.

When the unit is shut off, I lose both the radio and the GPS navigation option that I paid for upon purchase of this vehicle.

I'm beyond frustrated and disgusted with the customer service I have received throughout this process. I have had 12 service appointments thus far. I'm currently on my 4th radio for the vehicle and have gotten countless worthless "software updates". I was finally told this is normal operation. There is NO WAY this is normal. I was told that I keep the "heat too high". There's nothing on my dash warning me that if I turn on the heat that it's likely other things within the vehicle will bomb out. I live in Syracuse, NY - it's very cold in the winters and I'd like to use my heat!

Now when the radio goes out, I have resorted to turning the heat off (to try and revive the radio and GPS) and then placing my hands on the radio and then rubbing them on my legs for warmth!!! The radio unit is very hot to the touch so it does provide warmth!!! I was told to keep my heat low and divert it to the floor. Did that and all it did was take about 10 mins longer into the trip before the radio bombed out again. This issue is simply that the dealer and the Jeep "expert" have no idea what is going on. I have come to learn that I'm just a number to both the dealer and to the Jeep brand.

Renegade Limited 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission

I got gas the other day and before pumping, I switched from SiriusXM to FM (a local station). I didn't have ANY sound. I turned the Volume up the whole way and nothing. I switched back to SiriusXM and still NOTHING! I then turned off the radio and back on. Still NO SOUND. Then a message pops up stating that my cell phone is disconnected. I shut off the car and turned it back on and still NO sound. I then turned the car off and filled up with gas. I started the car back up and then the radio came on. WEIRD! So there IS A PROBLEM somewhere with this Audio System. It also is NOT GOOD SOUND as it should be.

Renegade Latitude FWD 2.4L-L 14 Multiair

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,415 miles

I was driving home from Sonora last night when My sound system went off and a light appeared saying Sound System unavailable and it was repeated about 6xs prior to getting home and twice today already, I called and left a message at 8am this morning and so far no call back and its already 230pm. I am so pissed off that they pushed this car on me at the dealership knowing it has had engine recalls..I don't know what to do or who to contact.

Renegade 5.7L V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,500 miles

Entire radio system and components failed (USB, Bluetooth, Satellite radio subscription, back up camera REMAINED on in all gears, even with vehicle off).

Backup camera would sporadically shift between blue, gray, and backup screen WHILE DRIVING. Dealer reps were remarkably rude and didn't seem to understand the safety issue involved with a bright screen turning on while driving at night). Took 19 days to receive replacement radio and was only given loaner for less than half of the time. Replaced radio and did not add Sirius (included in vehicle purchase price) and deny their ability to add one month back to accommodate for the time I had no access to something I PAID FOR.

Temperature gauge often reads absurd temperatures that are inaccurate. Dash told me "Not in park shift to park" when I turned vehicle on this morning. It was in park.
