Want to make the public aware and hoping my friends share this post on their pages.

I own a Jeep Renegade 2017. It has/had a tinted "tempered" back window. Yesterday I was driving home and I was about 100 miles into my 240 mile trip (Jeep was completely warmed up so no temperature drastic changes). I decided to rest in a very secluded State Forest Campground with the Jeep still running. I parked it in a camping spot. I had seen no one anywhere around me (just woods & open area with a lake in view). I got all comfortable, with putting my seat back and barely closed my eyes.

Then out of nowhere my back window of my Jeep exploded, sending myself into an extreme panic thinking my back window had just been shot out by whomever that's up to no good. At this point I throw the Jeep into drive, drive like hell as fast as I could out of what I feared was a bullet coming into my Jeeps back window. I drive very fast and call 911 as I am racing my way out of the woods to attempt to outrun the shooter! Keep in mind I've never drove this particular road or have ever been in the/this area before, making it more unnerving.

911 Dispatcher navigates me to the local sheriffs office. The sheriff finds NOTHING! No bullets, no rock, nothing. Says to me "must of mysteriously broke"??? Takes my information down and I got the feeling he felt I was just a crazy old woman... And he sends me on my way.

After much thought and searching the web, I think it is poor craftsmanship, possibly manufacture defect or cheap quality glass used, that can explode at any given minute.

With my unfortunate experience I want anyone and everyone to know of this possible occurrence, not necessarily a Jeep only issue. Vehicles are being manufactured with cheaper materials putting all of us at risk. Just think of what could have happened if a baby was in the backseat and the window explodes. My dog was unharmed (she was in the backseat, facing front and almost in the front seat). Or I was on the highway in heavy traffic...

This is a vehicle. I've traveled across America twice with and used to camp with my face under that exact window... Thank my lucky stars. It did not explode in my face as I was trying to sleep. Or I'd have a face and eyes full of glass. I am no longer confident that I can use my Jeep and will sell it and never buy another one because to replace the window they put in the exact type of window that will again explode, whenever it feels like it!

My driver door window shattered after I jet washed it. It is only 6 months old for crying out loud!! I was in shock and other people present couldn't understand how this happened. Thank goodness I wasn't driving, or I could've been involved in an accident and injured myself and/or others!! Serious stuff. What was even more annoying was that after taking it to Jeep they came back saying that as the door mechanism worked OK the warranty would not cover the cost of the repairs!! Unbelievable! So, once I get it replaced and door resprayed (as there are scratches from the shattered glass) at my own expense..!! how do I ever take my Jeep Renegade back to the car wash without being scared to death one of my car windows/windshield will explode !!

VERY POOR SHOW Jeep !! Not only have you not honored the pathetic warranty you offer, but you are placing customers who have put their trust in you in danger, and you don't care one bit. What kind of low quality tempered glass are you using for these cars?? I still have some of the pieces of the glass and I am taking it to a lab for testing. Also will be going to the Consumer Rights and placing a formal complaint to Jeep.

I have a friend who had a problem with their Jeep car radio and it was replaced under warranty...the radio cost nearly £2000 pounds sterling. A door window is just a fraction of that, and much higher in the safety importance scale! And Jeep will not foot the bill under warraty?? Just goes to show what little value Jeep places on their customers....?!!
