Starting in December 2015 I noticed that when trying to rinse the road grime off my front windshield I wasn't getting any washer fluid. Figured it was empty...it wasn't but it was low so I added to it. Still no washer fluid. The rear washer works perfectly fine. The Front will not spray at all. I replaced the washer pump...still didn't fix the problem. Took all the tubing off, checked all connections...no clogs, cracks, or leaks.

Around the same time I noticed my doors would not lock when using the key fob. I realized this when asking my son to grab something out of the Jeep and the alarm went off. Figured it was a fluke. I don't live in a horrible neighborhood but I lock my doors all the time, and then forget I locked them. When hitting the lock button on the key fob it will activate the alarm but the doors will not lock. Using the door lock buttons in the jeep do not lock the doors either...will only unlock. Now anyone can open my jeep and set my alarm off which could cause my battery to go dead if I hit the lock button on my key fob. Or I can leave it unlocked and have people rummage through it freely. What's the better of the two evils?

Now I have to replace the TIPM which costs roughly $500. I only found out this was the issue after doing month's of exhausting research and trial and error fixes which cost me even more money. I find it ironic that this same part was recalled on the 07-08 Wranglers and this is still an issue, or perhaps, even worse than before.

Headlights and marker lights would not shut off unless I disconnected the battery. Windshield wipers would randomly come on and not shut off. Changed out the accessory switch and that didn't fix anything. Changed some fuses and the problem seemed to be resolved. The next day my jeep wouldn't start. Jumped it without a problem, and halfway down the road all of the dash lights started flashing. Jeep died while slowing down for a red light and would not start. Called a tow truck. Once the jeep was on the tow truck it decided to start. Checked over it for bad grounds and wires and found nothing. I did not experience the problem again until March 6th, my accessory switch would not work, headlights would not shut off, windshield wipers would come on with the fog light switch and the fog lights light on the dash would flash on and off. Headlights would shut off when I shut my jeep off so I dealt with it for a few days and eventually the problem went away. Hoping this was the last with my TIPM problems.

My wipers will not go off and I am in lockout (the car will not come out of park) and lights will not shut off, plus there is no electrical dash components working (turn signals, speedometer, mileage, etc.). I called Chrysler and they deny that there is an issue. Is there anything I can do?

Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 3.8L V6

Bought this vehicle 1 1/2 years ago and having the vehicle 6 months. it was taken to King ExpressLube to have the oil and filter changed, in which, the wrong oil filter was put on car resulting in a blown engine. King Express Lube paid $7,000 to have new engine repaired and vehicle was towed to North Point Jeep dealership where the engine was replaced.

Every since then, the vehicle has had problems with just not starting. It has been towed to the Jeep dealership numerous times with them saying, " we can' t find anything wrong with it". So we would take it and wait on it to break down again. 11/3/2015 vehicle would not start again, was again towed to Jeep where they kept it two days, releasing it again with "we can't find anything wrong". Was advised by service manager to carry a " hammer" and tap under starter area and see if that will work! Really?!

So again 11/20/2015, vehicle once again would not start and jeep was notified. They sent a tech to the site where he said that he finally figured out what it is! Said its the TIPM... Which is not covered under warranty and they can order part and fix it for 900.00! So spoke with them on the phone today in regards and they say this problem/part isn't under warranty. I have a problem with this if they know it is faulty and have no morals to replace the part. The service manager agreed but said he couldn't do anything.

Very tacky business practice. Just a shame they didn't check this first instead of letting us be without a vehicle for days at a time numerous times, knowing this was a faulty part! I love the Jeep Wranglers but have no desire to buy another Chrysler with this type of stuff happening and them not standing behind their products!

Thank you for listening to all this ridiculousness!!!!

This problem can cause a death!! This is a serious issue and something needs to be done. The dealership knows nothing about it and checked the car in and out and couldn't find nothing wrong. Until my wife and I went online and researched that's when we found that the recall on the this TIPM existed. I'm traveling out of town and this happens to me and I had to spend money to have the car towed only to be told they can't find anything!

Money on top of money being spent and Chrysler doesn't want to pay to get this fix!!! I guess after many people die on the dangerous highway when they are going 80 miles per hour and their car just slows down and stops and they get hit from behind, they will do something after it happens over and over again to many people! If I knew this was the case on the Jeep I wouldn't have bought it 2 years ago!!!!

Chrysler really needs to compensate every one for this; the inconvenience while traveling and their car stops, money loss, money spent they didn't have getting car towed etc.. I can go on and on but I'm too pissed! This has happened on my way to work.... So please settle on behalf of the consumers quickly and make Chrysler fix these vehicles that some of us are still paying for!!

Headlights work some times and some times they go off running or don't even go on at all. Air bags light on the dashboard went on and does not go off. Passenger side lock suddenly stopped working. Inside light some times stay on after the jeep is started. Have to shut them manually. Some times it does not crank. The check engine sometimes come on and took it to the scanner and it shows no issue.

I have gone over a month without being able to drive at night/morning because I have no headlights. I ordered a refurbished TIPM (which was the same price as a new one that would probably go bad anyway) over 3 weeks ago. "Hopefully" (dealership quote) the part will be in in a few more weeks. Ill keep my fingers crossed and my seat belt on...

I can deal with the dashboard lights going out, the windshield wipers coming on for no reason at all or not working when I need them to, and the radio working randomly. What I can not deal with is the fact that my vehicle may just stop working at any point while driving. I have made countless replacements and repairs to this vehicle that were just a result of the TIPM going bad. These repairs were suggested by dealership WHEN MY JEEP WAS UNDER WARRANTY. Some of the ones that I remember are horn replacements, many light changes, and pumps/ valve replacements. None of the repairs or diagnosis ever pointed to my TIPM being bad, until I self diagnosed it and took it in to the dealership to double check my work.

The faulty TIPM should have been diagnosed during my bumper to bumper coverage, however Jeep/ Chrysler fails to accept that this part is bad and take the low road only doing repairs to the parts affected from the TIPM failure.

I am now renting cars to drive at night, and waiting patiently for the call from the dealership telling me that my part has come in. I have signed up at every link I could find, and sent emails to the published email address to join in the class action lawsuit for this problem. I have heard from NO ONE. It may be too late for me. Jeep/ Chrysler should just accept responsibility and take the high road. Get the issue fixed with the part. Go back to the manufacturer of the part, and have them accept some of the losses for it. Increase the production of the new and improved part. Train your techs to look for this issue, and accept some of the financial responsibility for it. Ignoring is not the proper response to this.

Jeep owners especially are brand loyal. We come back over and over throughout our lifetime. It is not acceptable to let us pay the price for this issue. It is definitely not acceptable to continue to put us in danger due to your inability to accept responsibility and take necessary actions.

Wrangler Rubicon 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 51,000 miles

Just after New Year's I decided to buy a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon that was very well kept and had less than 50k miles. How bad could it be? Other than occasional false triggering of the ESP due to the 3" lift, I had no problems until a few weeks ago. While sitting in a parking lot with it running, suddenly every warning light and bell went crazy on the dash. I shut it down and restarted a couple times while it continued to freak out. Next, it decided to not start for 20 minutes. When it finally started again the check engine light was on. I took it to a dealer, they ran diagnostics and said the ignition switch was bad. $350 and 6 hours later it seemed fine. 6 days later I had dinner in town, came out afterward and it wouldn't start while I was 20 miles from home in a snowstorm. Had it towed back to the dealer, the next day I get a call saying the TIPM was fried and wouldn't even communicate with the diagnostic equipment. They also mentioned it would be $1100, they were 7 days out, and that they didn't have a loaner available. Today (10 days later) I pick it up and it was $1258. I find it interesting that they charged me $800 for a part I found online this evening for $174. I drove for 40 minutes, stopped for lunch, and it wouldn't start!!!!!! This vehicle will potentially end up on a recall list and I hope it does. Maybe one day I'll get my $$$ back, the POS extended warranty I purchased doesn't cover a damn thing!!!!!!

Update from Jan 31, 2016: Well, here it is almost exactly one year later, and the $1500 I spent to fix it has done nothing to remedy the problem. Every time it snows the TIPM malfunctions, leaving me stranded with no idea when or if it will start. If it does start, while sitting at idle every warning light and sound on the dash goes nuts. Once I'm moving it seems ok other than the bas, traction control, and check engine lights remaining lit. But I have to be careful where I shut it down, for it could be several minutes, hours, or the next day before it will start again! I'm so sick of this! I'm reluctant to drive anywhere of substantial distance for fear of a hefty tow bill. What good is a Jeep in the Rocky mountains if it can't be trusted in the snow!!!??? C'mon Chrysler, get your sh*t together and stand behind your products!!! Until then I suppose I can look forward to another failure, subsequent tow bill, and $1500 repair for an issue that should have been corrected years ago.

Wrangler Unlimited Sport 3.8L

  • Manual transmission
  • 100,000 miles

On February 22nd, I discovered while driving on winter highway roads, my front washer pump would not activate. Following this issue and, in the same time frame I noticed my door locks would not activate at speed. Other issues include an inability to lock the vehicle using either of the key fobs and, an inability to lock the vehicle using either of the electronic door lock switches of the driver or passenger door. Further; included in the issues is the alarm activating with out the door locks. At times the doors can be opened without the alarm activating and, at other times upon opening the doors the alarm will activate.

In trying to lock the doors of the vehicle the only item noticed is the clicking sound of relays activating with no action of the locking mechanisms themselves. The most significant and dangerous of issues is while driving on winter roads as vision is greatly reduced and, can not be cleared as the front windshield washer pump is rendered useless.

My TIPM has shut off my Jeep and has made the Jeep unable to be driven. The computer module has taken over and shut everything down, except for all the instrument panel lights and wipers...this is a big safety hazard... knowing this shut off could have happened crossing an intersection, rail line or better yet as these wranglers are made for...off-roading in the middle of nowhere. How can you even think that this type of vehicle can be taken places (as advertised) into the country land far from any help and have this happen...this needs to be replaced by recall immediately!

Headlights on Jeep went out while driving in the middle of the night. Made for a very dangerous drive home for both my wife and myself. Have seen numerous, and I mean numerous, forums on the exact same problem for many Jeeps and cannot believe that there has not been a recall on these TIPM. Is totally unsafe and will get someone seriously hurt or worse!!
