Wrangler Freedom Edition 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 49,423 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I've only had this Wrangler for a few months, as I purchased it used from a Jeep Dealer (Westgate Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Raleigh North Carolina). Today...out of nowhere on my way to work, the turn signal stopped working. Stopped to see if AI could check what was wrong. I checked the fuse box to see if maybe a fuse dislodged but didn't change anything. Also realized the headlights wouldn't turn on as well. Then just as suddenly everything was fine. Later after returning to work from lunch as I pull into a parking space...the wipers randomly turn on without me touching the switch. I had to leave work before dark because the lights won't turn back on. The brakes come in when the petal is pushed and the hazards turn on with tje button. Even my headlights will come on when I unlock the doors.

After realizing this is a common issue that apparently Chrysler is in to hurry to fix it infuriates me that it looks like this is going to be a long drawn out process...all before I am trying to make a 700+ mile trip to FL to help family move to VA. I don't think I can use my ONLY car to make the trip. It's not safe...and unless this is fixed...I cannot trust it.

The fact that this is not a recall is an outrage. This is a HUGE safety issue. If this were to take place at night in a rain storm it would be a whole different ballgame. They need to step up and fix this issue...because if they don't...the only brand (Jeep) keeping them afloat is going to soon and sadly crumble.

FIX THIS NOW CHRYSLER/FIAT!!!!

Going down the road - windshield wipers came on by themselves, lights came on, dash lights came on, and then the vehicle stalled. Been in the shop for 14 days and they just figured out that it was the TIPM.

Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

Ever since I had bought my Jeep Wrangler brand new it has done weird things (ie: automatic windows won't work, radio won't work, locks won't work), but every time if I just turned off the Jeep and turned it back on the problem never occurred for another month or so; so I just ignored it. Now, my locks don't work and the only fix is to replace the TIPM and my vehicle is pass it's bumper to bumper warranty now. This is a $1,000 fix for something that I'm just now finding out has been a faulty TIPM since I bought the vehicle and now I have to pay for it. This is Chrysler's fault!!!

Sad that Jeep won't cover this part even though they know it is a big problem. Shame on you Chrysler.

Wrangler Sport 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,500 miles

My 2012 Jeep Wrangler completely died in the middle of the road while I was traveling at 45 mph. It only has 7500 miles on it and the warranty just expired 6 weeks ago. I was almost rear ended by another vehicle. The police had it towed because it was in the middle of a street and we couldn't even get it into gear to push it off the side of the road. It completely locked up. You could hear the water pump continuing to operate. I was getting ready to pull onto a busy highway. I feel confident that I would have been hit on the highway.

They impounded my Jeep and then I had to wait for 6 1/2 hours at the impound lot to have another tow truck tow it to the dealership. It will be a 3 month wait for a TIPM. I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I am currently leasing also. The Jeep Grand Cherokee lease ends in 2 days and I will not be leasing another Chrysler product. I wish I had not purchased the Jeep Wrangler. I now have to purchase another vehicle for my husband because he can't be without transportation for 3 months.

If this had happened 6 weeks earlier I could have been compensated under the Tennessee Lemon Law. I paid $34,000 for a vehicle that can't even run past 7,500 miles. I am finished with Chrysler. They have known about the TIPM for a long time and they don't care. I am out thousands of dollars.

Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 3.6L v6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,000 miles

TIPM failed on October 18 2014. It is still at the dealership inoperable awaiting parts that are unavailable.Chrysler has given us four dates that the parts might be available, latest is November 28.

Chrysler has not been helpful in explaining why this is acceptable and how they are going to remedy the problem. I just want to get it repaired so I can get rid of it and never buy another Chrysler product again. I have repeatedly called my case manager to talk to her about the situation and all they do is email a reply thanking me for my patience. This is the worst customer service I have received in my life. After doing some research on the internet this seems to be a common and known problem for Chrysler.

Since October 2014 our 2012 Jeep Rubicon has been having a rough, jerking, clunking sort of sifting while driving. Could be described as erratic. It is very frightening! The local dealer did a transmission update which did not help. They now want to tear our transmission apart. We now feel this is connected to the TIPM and the list of problems below...

Our list of problems we now feel are related... Would not start on 2 occasions. Replaced battery twice. Stalling at unusual times on many, many occasions. Traction control light comes on for no reason, must stop, turn off & restart for light to go off. Passenger side headlight (high beam) periodically flickers. While driving it seems to miss a gear? Jerks? Clunks? Dealer wants to tear our transmission apart?

Wrangler Sahara 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 77,000 miles

My Jeep turned off while driving. I called AAA and while waiting for the tow truck I was struck from behing by another vehicle. Had my Jeep's TIPM never failed we would have never been in this situation. Luckily we were smart enough to wait for the tow truck outside of the vehicle in a safer place. Thankfully, no one on our party was injured, not so sure about the other parties involved. I love my Jeep, but I've read so many shady things about Chrysler that I do not trust their integrity any longer.

Wrangler Sahara Unlimited

  • Automatic transmission
  • 16,000 miles

Own a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sahara unlimited. Car engine would shutdown on highway. Issue was due to a bad prong on the TIPM. Brought to Teterboro Jeep in which although it was a manufacturers defect refused to work on the vehicle (since it had a lift kit) and instead had the remaining of my warranty voided. Instead they gave me tape to hold down the fuse and said good luck.

I was shocked on the customer service only to find out there is a class action lawsuit against Chrysler for the same tactics and issues: http://www.girardgibbs.com/chrysler-totally-integrated-power-module-tipm-lawsuit-/

So Chrysler is looking to save a few bucks..

Not to mention this happened on the prior year model that required a recall in which people had to die before they acknowledged an issue.

Unfortunately this is history repeating itself. Chrysler is well aware of the issue. I just hope I'm not the example when they show up on captial hill explaining deaths like GM.
