I have been adding oil to My 2012 jeep Wrangler regarding that a mechanic told me that I had a bad rear main seal and it would cost ~ $1,200 to fix the problem. Upon farther investigation a second mechanic determined that the plastic oil filter / cooler box was leaking and that it was a common problem with jeep!
Also, said that was far as he knew MOPAR has not acknowledged this issue and that the unit should have been made of aluminum or ridged metal that doesn't degrade and cause a catastrophic problem such as plastic. Very surprising that something as rugged as a jeep has a plastic component that could undermined the whole vehicle and at this point is not offering a recall or replacement for the overall safety and security of their loyal customers ...
