Check engine light came on, had the codes diagnosed and brought it to a mechanic, timing chain stretched and all associated with it needs to be replaced. Just hoping it doesn't happen again, at all, but in the next 50-70 thousand miles. It's absolutely horrible that an engine with that little mileage on it has this big of an issue. I can only speak for the time I've owned it, but in that time oil changes and all other regular maintenance has been done on time. Very disappointing.
This is part of the Pentastar 3.6L V6 engine issues, the engines are defective with defective parts. Jeep knows about these issues and continues to put these engines in their vehicles leading to large cost repairs in newer vehicles. Not only do they know about the issues but the repairs call for replacing the parts with the same defective parts, possibly leading to the issue coming back down the road. Furthermore, the issues in most cases, come up just after the original warranty has ended, causing owners to replace engine parts that should never need to be replaced under normal wear and tear of a vehicle.
