My husband drives this car. If it was me, I wouldn't be able to get in and out from the passenger's side. My husband hurts from doing this. Two days after this happened, my husband took it to the local Kia dealer. They spent a lot of time on it with several people and could not get the car door open to fix it. This is not only highly dangerous-- but why in the world is it that the Kia dealership themselves are unable to help us???

What in the world are we supposed to do? We paid an awful lot of money for this vehicle and do not have resources to buy another vehicle -- plus we wouldn't be able to get rid of it with this problem. We need a resolution that is not expensive. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Problem once again with not being able to open my driver door! This is the second time this happens! KIA NEEDS TO RECALL THE 2005 OPTIMA. This is totally a safety hazard!

Many others have the same problem. Driver's door locks itself when you go to open the door from inside or outside the car. The result is a 3 door car and an embarrassed owner that is relegated to climbing in from the passenger side performing gymnastic moves worthy of a gold medal.

It is such a pain in the ass having to climb in and out to the drivers side THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE!... especially after recently having had a baby through a C-SECTION!!! I thought I had the problem fixed... well it happened again only 1 week after it was supposedly fixed. Now I have to take it back and pay more money!!! This is completely ridiculous. Being a mom of a 5month old, a 9year old, and working full time requires a lot of my time. I don't have time to keep taking my car to the shop. AND IT IS EMBARRASSING AS HELL HAVING TO BE CLIMBING IN AND OUT like I have lost my mind! I don't want to go to the store any more, I don't want to get in and out of dropping my child off at school... KIA NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THIS ISSUE AND recall the 2005 OPTIMA NOW!!!!!!

Drivers side door will not open with fob or key. I have to crawl through passenger side to get and out. There should be recall and Kia pay for this defect. This is a safety hazard.

The doors won't open. I don't know how this will turn out yet. I will notify the seller of the vehicle to me, along with their warranty on tomorrow, so I'll see how it turns out.

The driver's side door on my car will not open. It locks all the doors on the car when the handle is pulled on the outside. It will not open from the inside either, which means to drive the car you have to get in from the passenger side and climb over the console. The same thing happened a year or so ago and it cost $152 to repair. I don't think I should have to pay to fix the same problem over and over. This is a defective part that they are using!
