In December 2021, I reported an issue with the driver-side airbag light being on that has yet to be addressed even after working with KIA customer service. In January 2022, the PASSENGER side airbag light is blinking. This has been reported to KIA as well.

2015 Kia Sedona driver's side airbag light is on intermittently. Dealer states airbag under seat is malfunctioning and cost to replace is greater than $1000. Vehicle has not been involved in an accident and this is original equipment. This is a safety risk because the airbag may not function properly in the event of a crash.

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated and the air bags were disabled from a sensor located under the front passenger seat. Kia of South austin (5306 S ih 35 frontage rd, austin, tx 78745, (512) 444-6635) quoted that the repair would cost over $1,000 and the vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer agreed to split the repair cost. The manufacturer paid for the parts and the contact paid for the labor. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 19V109000 (electrical system) that offered reimbursement for previous repairs. The dealer stated that the part was fine and no repairs were needed. The contact submitted a request for reimbursement, but was denied six weeks later. The failure mileage was 71,718.

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sedona. After purchasing the vehicle, the contact noticed that three of the tires were faulty and the air bags were disabled. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle vibrated and shook. The contact called the dealer from where the vehicle was purchased and was informed that the collision light burned out. The dealer advised the contact to take the vehicle to a Kia dealer and they would repair it for free. The vehicle was taken to hudson Kia (36 water St, jersey city, NJ 07305, (201) 380-1220) where it was diagnosed that the air bags were disabled because of the sensor that needed to be replaced. The dealer further stated that the front driver side tire and both rear tires were faulty and the belt was separating from the tires. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The tire information was unknown. The failure mileage was 64,073.

Air bag light is on and wont go off. It used to come on occasionally but it just started to be on constantly recently. Also the passenger air bag is stuck on. Its supposed to light up off when no one is seated. Now the seat belt light flashes as if someone is seated there. This is ridiculous. This is a huge safety risk.

My air bag indicator light came on and does not reset. The passenger side air bag light in not showing the passenger air bag is off. According to the vehicles manuel this we may have a passenger air bag deploy when it should be off and the drivers side air bag will not deploy when it should. This is a very serious problem and during my research found at least 50+ Kia owners with this problem. Please check this out and have Kia repair these vehicles under a recall notice. I believe my warranty is still valid but not sure Kia will fix this without prodding. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
