MKC Premium 2.3L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission

Car has loose steering especially under 35mph. Even over minor bumps and ruts It bounces, sways back and forth and steering wheel rocks to and fro and will drift to either side of road if allowed. Dealer found fault code issues with steering control module (rack&pinion) replaced, test drove said drives as designed. which helped somewhat at speeds over 35 mph but did little for ordinary driving below 35 mph. This is quite unpleasant and feels unsafe, Dealer says will look into further ( technical support) and get back to me.

Apparently there have been some spot on complaints about this particular problem, but I have not seen a resolution as of yet.

You would think any complaints about any of Fords flag ships would get immediate attention?

MKC LS 4 cyl Turbo

Car has loose steering below thirty, with bad lateral support in suspension, causing vehicle to rock back and forth like a boat and the steering wheel to rock back and forth with the car, much like bump steer. Any uneven surface no matter how minor allows steering wheel to rock to and fro. Finally got Lincoln to replace the rack and pinion which helped somewhat at speeds above 35 mph, but did nothing for ordinary driving below 35, which is truly unpleasant and feels unsafe. Have had Ford and Lincoln products (from economical to luxury) for 45+ and never had erratic, boat-like, "bump-steery" suspension and steering. Third-party frame and alignment shops have all confirmed that the steering is not right, with one adding that "is Car and Driver" had tested this particular MKC, Lincoln would not have sold one. FYI, alignment has been checked and double check and setting are correct.
