pretty bad
seat belts / air bags problem
I was told in march of 2016 the air bags would be fixed. It is April of 2017 and the air bag fix is not in and the dealer cannot tell me when the parts will be in. I am driving a death trap and you do not care. They do not care about the people that buy their cars. I would not buy a Ford or Lincoln again.

Received letter from The Lincoln Motor Company July 22, 2016 regarding air bag recall, but the notice notifies of problem with out a solution parts not available yet. It's 2017 still waiting...... Thankfully no accidents so far, but very concerning you have notice of problem, no parts, and drive at your own risk?

When we received the first recall notice, I started trying to get the airbag fixed. Long story short - many phone calls to the provided number and many calls that were not returned. Not one person acts like they comprehend that we are on an island and have NO ford dealership to get it fixed. Call your ford dealer and make an appointment they all say!
I called Kendal ford in Anchorage at 1,674.7 miles away and not by driving this is by Alaska state Ferry, and explained what the ford rep on the phone had told me and what my current dilemma was and was told the guy who takes care of this would call me back. He did not bother! On one call, the woman had the nerve to ask if it was still a running car... YES, it is and a really nice car. I am not even a Ford guy! The only reason the wife got away with getting is that it is a Lincoln.
So I have talked to two of our auto shops in Ketchikan. Both are very capable of fixing any issue and they both tell me that I have to pay them for the service to fix it and then I have to go through some sort of reimbursement process? It's not my problem - I did not make the car and I do not have a ford dealership. It is impossible to just drive there and make an appointment. Now I have to pay for a Ford recall. How do they know that I have the $600.00 to just pay it and then maybe get some of the cost back? Because I do not!
The closest dealer to drive it to is in Seattle - this requires a rough estimate at $1700.00 ferry trip one way, or maybe an Alaska marine line barge shipment and airplane tickets, which is pretty close to the ferry trip cost.
The only option to get this taken care of is to pay a nonauthorized mechanic - what a joke.
Jeep allows our shops to do recalls and just pays for it to be taken care of. Subaru does not allow just anyone to do their recalls, but they send someone to Ketchikan, they rent space in a garage and fix their recalls.
How about FORD stepping up and either authorizing our shops to do the work, or have it done like Jeep, or Subaru???
This is the first Ford I have owned and it will be the last.
Out of all the recall notices we have received since this started yesterday 2/14/2020 See the attached photos. What a horrific thing to send out! Now they are trying to scare the hell out of their customers. The other photo is proof of the cost to get it done.
