2006 Nissan Frontier had a complete fail of the tailgate hinges causing the tailgate to fall open with the danger of accidents caused by release of cargo onto the road. An internet search for "Nissan tailgate hinge" turned up a number of other incidents, including loss of tailgate on the highway.
