Frontier Sv 4x4 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 678 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Brand new 2015 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab SV 4X4 truck with 678 miles on it. Garage kept since purchase on 26 April 2015. Never pressure wand washed and never washed in an automatic car wash. Hand washed only on two occasions with a sponge and then hand dried.

The two roof weld seams have sealant which was painted black at the factory with the rest of the truck. The sealant has already shrunk, leaving white sealant showing along the sealant edges and there are cracks in the painted surfaces of both beads of sealant with the white sealant color showing through the cracks. Eventually water, snow, ice, wind and washing will allow the paint to peel at these exposed edges and cracks.

I reported the defect to the dealer, who's service department personnel went out in the new car lot at the dealership, where they looked at the roof another Nissan Frontier Crew Cab truck, which displayed the same defects in the sealant. Since it had the same defects, they stated this condition is "normal" for Nissan Frontier Crew Cab trucks. I reported this defect to Nissan North America, and their representative contacted me by phone this afternoon and she stated this is "normal" for Nissan Frontier tucks and they would not correct the defect. Evidently they are using a sub-standard or defective sealant on all 2015 Nissan Frontiers and are unwilling to admit it or to correct the defects caused in the roofs paint the defective sealant causes.

My last truck was a 1999 Ford F-250, purchased in 1998 and the roof sealer and paint did crack, but that was after 17 years of sitting outdoors all that time in all kinds of weather. Looks like I should have stayed with Ford if I wanted a long lasting truck with good initial quality.
